Boy…Dickerson in LF? Not sure about that. I thought he was bruised up a little? Oh well, O’Neill’s only 4 for 7 with a HR, 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored in his last 2 games. I’d go with Dickerson in LF…
August 17, 2022 at 3:50 pm #196033…I could probably tweak the formula a bit by putting in some sort of league norm factor, where the runs produced would be adjusted based on the seasons the guy played. A little more complicated, but that would be a way to compare guys over history a little better.
August 17, 2022 at 3:52 pm #196034Yeah, my man O’Neill starting to get untracked and is on the bench.
August 17, 2022 at 3:55 pm #196035BikeMike…Pretty sure I’ve heard someone somewhere mention something similar. In any case, I’d bet a dollar Goldy would be at the top of the list you formulated if it were limited to this season. He’s hanging some serious numbers all across the board.
August 17, 2022 at 4:00 pm #196036#STLCards rookie Juan Yepez, who has been out since July 15 with a right forearm strain, has been optioned to the Triple-A @memphisredbirds . Yepez ranks among NL rookies in home runs with 11.

August 17, 2022 at 4:02 pm #196037BikeMike…Yeah, what’s what with that? Not only does O’Neill look like he may be getting untracked, but the last time I saw Dickerson man up in the OF he took a horrible first step and route to the baseball in RCF vs. the Brewers on Sat. I read somewhere that he may still not be 100% healthy.
August 17, 2022 at 4:11 pm #196038This isn’t a first time thought, but Big League baseball wouldn’t be nearly as much fun if fans weren’t allowed to gripe about the line-up.
August 17, 2022 at 4:36 pm #196040CORRECTION FROM EARLIER: Juan Yepez wasn’t optioned to Triple-A. He is simply continuing his Minor League rehab assignment with the @memphisredbirds . He spent last week with MEM before falling ill. He’ll rejoin MEM in Gwinnett (Ga.). https://t.co/JkEWQU1cMP

August 17, 2022 at 4:44 pm #196042I’m pretty sure even casual Redbird fans know that at 35 yrs. old, Marmol is the youngest manager in the Big Leagues. I was somewhat astounded when I was reminded that none other than Sparky Anderson was the youngest Big League manager at 35 yrs. of age when he was hired by the Reds in ’69. Man alive, Sparky, with that white head of hair looked to me not at all unlike my dear old grandpa back then when I was 12…
August 17, 2022 at 5:05 pm #196044I think I’ve figured out the lineup technique: Ollie takes a lineup card each day, slots Goldy into the three hole, Arenado into fourth, then tosses the names of the rest of the position players into the air and where they land on the card determines their slot in the order. Then he moves on to the bullpen plan for the day, which is a whole nother system. Keeps the opposition guessing, right?
Rah Cardinals!
August 17, 2022 at 5:07 pm #196045Time to kill so here is OBP and OPS+ of the lineup

2. Brendan Donovan .395 123
3. Paul Goldschmidt .412 192
4. Nolan Arenado .363 160
5. Nolan Gorman .315 122
6. Corey Dickerson .277 82
7. Paul DeJong .274 83

9. Dylan Carlson .310 103August 17, 2022 at 5:13 pm #196046
jj-cf-stlParticipantLast week O’Neill faced Marquez and K’d swinging three times. Maybe Oli is protecting O’Neills recent success by avoiding a bad matchup for Tyler tonight.
Dickerson had two singles and a double vs Marquez, last week.
August 17, 2022 at 5:30 pm #196047CardFrance…As long as Goldy and Nado are in there, sounds like as good a method as any!
GO REDBIRDS!
August 17, 2022 at 5:33 pm #196049Bling…You can’t argue with the fact that Donovan reaches base.
August 17, 2022 at 5:33 pm #196050I met Tony Perez (and Johnny Bench as well) at the autograph pavilion at the National Sports Collectors Convention a few weeks ago. I asked Tony, “Was Sparky the best manager you played for?” Perez laughed and said, “I guess so, he’s the guy that won.”
August 17, 2022 at 5:36 pm #196051jjcfstl…Yep, I saw that. My primary concern with Dickerson is the image in my mind of the baseball rolling around in the LF corner. Hopefully he’ll do alright.
August 17, 2022 at 5:47 pm #196052I was at the game where O’Neill K’d all day. What you did before does not mean you will continue to do it, but it is a consideration.
Dickerson did hit well last Thursday. It was kind of funny – he hit a ball down the left field line, just barely fair, and it bounced into the stands for a ground rule double. Dickerson was close to second, but started jogging back to the batters box thinking it was a foul ball. The second base umpire finally got his attention and said “You are on second.”

August 17, 2022 at 6:16 pm #196059Nootbar obp is about the same as Edman..
August 17, 2022 at 6:48 pm #196063Monte’s a big young man. Looks almost like TE working out there on the mound.
August 17, 2022 at 6:51 pm #196064I’m astounded the Yankees let this guy go.
August 17, 2022 at 6:57 pm #196065Lead-off BB. Push it across.
August 17, 2022 at 7:01 pm #196067I thought he got it…That’s okay. Big 2 out RBI GRD.
August 17, 2022 at 7:05 pm #196068Tradin’ places for another run.
August 17, 2022 at 7:16 pm #196069
stlcard25ParticipantI’d like to see the Nolan and Nolan show in the lineup for the next 4-5 years I think.
