We need to win both of these games in Detroit. Milwaukee and the Cubs both won today so we dropped a half game to them. The Reds lost 3-2 in San Diego, the Padres completed the sweep. Plus we then have the Pirates for four games in St. Louis.

Monday night the Dodgers are in San Diego. Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch, tuning in. Also probably have a couple of 7×50 cigars during this game.

As somebody said in another thread we have four of the worst teams in baseball the next two weeks. Detroit, Pittsburgh, Arizona, and Colorado. However, Colorado is a much better team at Mile High Stadium than they are on the road. I do agree, however, that we need to go 9-4 at a minimum these next few series.

The Cubs have Cleveland starting tonight, Milwaukee is at Arizona, and the Reds are in Minnesota. Hopefully we can get some help.

Din-din today will be a ribeye steak in the air fryer. Was going to fire up my little grill but it’s overcast and I am afraid it might rain. The ribeye along with some jumbo sized crinkle cut french fries, some strawberries, and a glass of water.

Ribeye w fries sounds great Rats
Thats some good eating.Still needs some grilled onions though! Was a little surprised at the Cubs flop to the Mets at Wrigley last week. Don’t know about Milwaukee with Arizona as they’ve been worse than us. Oviedo has been looking much improved lately and for me is a rising talent. Arenado can hit a high strike but suckering for low stuff. Many Cardinals are good with low stuff but not so good on waist up. They need to work on that. Bad time for dead bats but lets see if they get better first! Hang in there Cardinals!

I have a question that doesn’t pay to this game, kind of weird there isn’t a set post for it but oh well. I’m buying tickets for the cub series in July. Wanted to do an all inclusive cause I’ve never done it plus in reality it seems a better deal with price of stuff by itself. Any way had some questions as first time. I was thinking about the rooftop outside of the ballpark but gf is taking her dad and thinks he would want to be inside and closer. So national car club is available, anybody used that one before and if so how is it. Food didnt look as good from pictures but a lot better view of field. Also on the rooftop outside of park, if you get a ticket, will they let you go inside of stadium just to look around. I figure they wouldn’t but just asking. Gf didn’t like that one as much cause you can’t see scoreboard though I’m assuming there are tvs around. Funny thing is they have really been dropping the prices since last night it’s went down 10 dollars. We are going to see them.playthe braves in August cause my son likes them, tickets even a lot cheaper for that. Anyway can’t believe I’m watching the cubs but she was born there so it’s a treat that goes again my better judgement. I’ll never hear the end of it if the cubs win. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are going to go to Wrigley, go to Wrigley.

July in St. Louis could be blazing hot willie. One of those all inclusive club things gives you outdoor seating that is shaded by the deck above and the ability to duck into the air conditioned club as needed. Not to mention shorter walk to concessions and restrooms.

    Rick Hummel in P-D:

“DeJong is of large concern to me. He isn’t hitting at all and should be hitting no higher than seventh until he rights himself. Sosa isn’t exactly tearing it up now, either, although he has been a valuable fill-in. If the Cardinals’ outfield had any depth, they could sit DeJong for a few days and play Sosa at short, but Sosa is needed at second if Edman has to play outfield.
The Cardinals aren’t going to win anything unless DeJong gives them something offensively.

Redbirds catch a break on three fronts last night.

Cubs lose at home to Cleveland by the score of 4-0.

Milwaukee suffers a 5-1 loss at Arizona as the DBacks snap a long losing streak.

And the Reds lose 7-5 in 12 innings in Minnesota at the Hubert H. Humphrey stadium. Reds led 5-3 going to the last of the 10th but Doolittle sort of coughed it up. A walkup wanger by Sano in the last of the 12th sent me to bed.

Need to make some hay in Detroit the next two days. And din-din today will be a visit to the German restaurant down in Jasper. I am thinking Weinerschnitzel, german fries, and green beans might sound good today.

If nothing else, Nootbar instantly improves the name grade on our team a full 5 points.

He certain has good bb/k rates all through his career. But I’m picturing a Matt Adams type in the field. Please someone tell me I’m wrong.

I am very glad to see them add Nootbaar. It means seeing less of Carpenter playing, and Edman playing less in right field. At the least, Nootbaar has always shown the ability to get on base. Hopefully he will continue his power surge.

I don’t know if Nootbaar will get the start tonight since we are facing a LH but I do hope he gets a steady run of starts at least until Bader returns. Like mentioned above I agree that Edman is more valuable at 2B. Not only would it put a squeeze on Carp it could also put a squeeze on DeJong if he doesn’t start hitting.

Nootbaar will probably not start tonight against the lefty. I am thinking he will make debut tomorrow night, if he doesn’t pinch hit tonight. I was also thinking Dejong needs to sit some nights the way he is hitting.

Cannot wait to watch the rookie play tonight. Hoping he can contribute at the Major League Level!

Pugs, made it back safely from Tennessee. Some really good food and a fair amount of cold beer … no moonshine for me. My future son-in-law did buy a couple of bottles of high-end whiskey that he felt were bargains.

We were able to watch two Appy League games. One in Elizabethton and one in Greeneville. The league is a college wood bat league sponsored by MLB & USA Baseball. The Greeneville ball park is a D2 School ball park and is very nice.

Reds had a 7-2 lead in the 8th today at Minnesota. And then at the end of the 8th inning the score was tied 7-7. Twins are hot and have won 5 in a row.

Just got back from the Snitzlebank Restaurant. The Weinerschnitzel, German Fries, and Green Beans were all good. I am going down to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls and then come home and hit the shower, grab a quick bite, and then tune in to the Cards and Tigers. Then finish off with the Dodgers and Padres. Whitey Herdog will be on the couch with me tonight. We’ll also have 2-3 cigars during the course of action tonight.

    Stay tuned…….

Naquin pounds a three run homer in the top of the 9th and the Reds take a 10-7 lead at Minnesota.

Also, on a good note, the Cubs go to Los Angeles for a four game set with the Dodgers starting on Thursday night. Hopefully Pujols and the Dodgers can take three of four and we can gain some ground.

Well 1964 you could have brought some shine back for me, oh well. I still have 2 jars of blackberry one of peppermint. When I run out is when I’m going back if only for a fun drive. I love the smokies. Far as nootbar, good for him. Good name. Really ad how far Thomas fell but he’s been given his shot. If he doesn’t pick it up, I see him out of ball in two years.

Yes, was of the opinion that Thomas would make a great fourth outfielder or potentially a starter. I have been shocked how he has fallen off.
