since coming back from DL, I think Paul D has raised his average 30 points. I think maybe the play of sosa in his absences motivated him a little.

Folks, the Edman base running blunder is actually a blessing in disguise — the reason the Cards win tonight. Nothing ever plays out the same if you go back and change a piece of history. If Edman had stayed at 2B, Carp would get a different sequence of pitches and perhaps strike out. DeJong gets different pitches too and probably doesn’t go yard. Thank goodness Edman was thrown out! Which of us were smart enough to give a celebratory fist pump at that play?

Which seems a little strange because in past years the reason a lot of people give for PDJ’s slumps has been overwork/fatigue. You’d think that’d be worse in late innings, but maybe not. Or maybe that’s not the reason.
