Thanks Euro. After I posted that I went and looked too. Notice the highest HR total is also the smallest AB’s total.
And his slash line just gets better and better the later the innings.July 27, 2021 at 8:36 pm #167980
since coming back from DL, I think Paul D has raised his average 30 points. I think maybe the play of sosa in his absences motivated him a little.July 27, 2021 at 8:37 pm #167981
Dang BaderJuly 27, 2021 at 8:37 pm #167982
Great at bat by bader. Let’s make it countJuly 27, 2021 at 8:37 pm #167983
Bader gets another extra base hit! Now we need someone to drive him in!July 27, 2021 at 8:38 pm #167984
Bader is on fire. Shildt may wanna think about moving him up in the line up. Doubtful since it doesn’t follow script and Bader is under 30July 27, 2021 at 8:41 pm #167987
Or just leave him alone? 😉
I’d be gunshy of moving him.July 27, 2021 at 8:41 pm #167988
Folks, the Edman base running blunder is actually a blessing in disguise — the reason the Cards win tonight. Nothing ever plays out the same if you go back and change a piece of history. If Edman had stayed at 2B, Carp would get a different sequence of pitches and perhaps strike out. DeJong gets different pitches too and probably doesn’t go yard. Thank goodness Edman was thrown out! Which of us were smart enough to give a celebratory fist pump at that play?July 27, 2021 at 8:41 pm #167989
Rondon walks. Hoping DeJong can get another big hit!July 27, 2021 at 8:42 pm #167990
This umpire has been great. This is what umpiring looks like.July 27, 2021 at 8:42 pm #167991
Good AB by Rondon. Most young players would have been eager to make something happen but he was patient and got the walk. Can Paul D hit 2 homers in a game ?July 27, 2021 at 8:43 pm #167994
I agree willie. He has been greatJuly 27, 2021 at 8:44 pm #167995

Which seems a little strange because in past years the reason a lot of people give for PDJ’s slumps has been overwork/fatigue. You’d think that’d be worse in late innings, but maybe not. Or maybe that’s not the reason.July 27, 2021 at 8:45 pm #167996
I don’t think bader should have been stealing there. He was safe but I’m not sure they are going to give that callJuly 27, 2021 at 8:45 pm #167997LACardFanParticipantFree

Yes, Bader is on fire. This is the point in the season where Shildt looks for an outfielder with a .400 OPS so he can bench Bader for two weeks and cool him off.July 27, 2021 at 8:45 pm #167998
I feel the call may stand.July 27, 2021 at 8:46 pm #167999
They made the right call, still not the right playJuly 27, 2021 at 8:46 pm #168000
I’m glad to be wrong there.July 27, 2021 at 8:46 pm #168002

Lane Thomas to the rescue.July 27, 2021 at 8:47 pm #168003
I wouldn’t mind Dylan batting hereJuly 27, 2021 at 8:47 pm #168004
Paul D Needs to attack this fastballJuly 27, 2021 at 8:48 pm #168005
Wow! Bases loaded two outs after DeJong walks. Really need to drive in a rub here. Carlson at the dish!July 27, 2021 at 8:48 pm #168006
Yea I wouldn’t be surprised if bader was benched, seems what happens a lot.July 27, 2021 at 8:48 pm #168007
Nice take. I was sure it’d be a fast ball. Dc can make the 9th a little less stressfulJuly 27, 2021 at 8:49 pm #168008
He wouldn’t walk him? He does … Carlson walks. Take what they give you Dylan!
