How much of a pitch count will Martinez be on for this outing?

I guess Carlos pitched 4 innings in his last simulated game, so that would be maybe 60 pitches? So I’d think around 60-70 pitches would be what they’d be looking at. Hopefully Carlos can pitch better than his last start against the Twins and go at least 4-5 innings.

The Cards are 1-7 in their last 8 games vs the Twins. A split today is imperative and a Cardinal sweep would be nice.

Probably see Carlson start one of these games and Thomas the other along with Bader and ONeil in both. Dexters IL trip will present an opportunity for some new blood in the outfield for a while. Two double headers this week and three double headers next week means 16 games in 12 days. Gonna be some tired looking pups when this is all over and I do think it will affect their overall record. At least their one off day will be at home and not in a Chicago hotel. GO CARDS.

Hopefully the mental makeup is such that our Redbirds are not looking at the heavy “work”load as exhausting. If that is the general consensus, then their season will definitely be on the short side of things. Our boys better be pumped up for this series. As the esteemed Stlcard25 mentioned, these Twins have totally had their way with us over the past two years. Yes these Minnesotians are a fine organization, but in no way should they ever be confused with the ’27 Yankees or ’68 Tigers. Show some pride and exact some serious revenge, gentlemen!

Whatever the lineup tonight I hope our dear Birds show a bit more defensive acumen than last night.

Makes sense to send Carlson down, with Edman being an OFer now. I suspect we may see Ravelo get a DH start or two coming up. The playoff chase is no place to get job training in meaningful playing time.

They have finally made the tough lineup decisions I suggested last week, though Carpenter will almost certainly still play.

Can the Cardinals Continue to Play Both Carpenter and Carlson?

It’s too bad there isn’t another viable third base option. Edman is busy filling in for Fowler, and Miller has an iron glove, and is best at DH. I just don’t see Carpenter ever returning to form. His bat looks very slow. Cards need to look into an alternative in 2021.

I see that Miller played quite a bit of OF last year. I wonder if it would be better to play him in the OF and keep Edman at 3B?

I don’t think I would let Miller touch the field on defense based on what I have seen. He is a bat only.

Carlos with some sharp pitches so far and some not as sharp ones. The fastball is sitting 94-95. Donaldson with the 1 out single.

Carlos gets the K on the nice change to punch out Nelson Cruz and get through 1 on 21 pitches.

21 pitches is too many. We will be lucky to get 4 innings out of him.

Possibly, yes. The good news is that he threw 15 strikes, so it was mostly guys fouling pitches off rather than him being wild.

(Start Rant) HATE! HATE! HATE! the broadcast restriction rules. There is no reasonable explanation for why a person in central Oklahoma can’t watch a Cardinals game on MLB network! (End Rant)

The 2nd inning goes smoother with 10 pitches, two grounders and a K. Well done, Carlos.

CMart gets through the 2nd inning on only 10 pitches. Much better.

I feel for you, osuagec. It as if MLB cares more about money than its fans. Anyway, stay around for the discussion…
