Wow! Like I said … things were interesting. He got one call from the ump and then he blew away Happ. He has so much potential as well!

Bader is playing very well right now. Nice to see him seizing the opportunity in the OF.

Reyes and Cabrera face 10 batters and strike out 7. One hit (the Bryant double) and no walks. Great work by those two.

Not sure I’d use Gallegos in a 4 run game. Hopefully it works out ok in the long run.

exactly. he usually has low pitch counts where you can back to back him, but…

Great work by the pen tonight!

Now the Redbirds need to get those Cubbies tomorrow.

Gallegos Ks Caratini and it’s a 7-3 win! The Cards get the all important win that sets them up to play with house money, so to speak, tomorrow with Cy Hendricks as the opponent.

Bader beautifully takes one oppo for a stand-up lead-off double. He’s swinging the bat better, seriously better. I think the tough love Bull Shildt gave him is paying off. Bull still pushing all the right buttons.

Yeah. He’s hitting again. They better bench him for 20 days this time.

Bader was hitting well when he was benched. I figure now since he went 3-3 he wont see the field for at least a week at least at the start of the games anyway. Some great hitting overall tonight. Goldy had that one big bomb but didnt look good the rest of the game. Hopefully we can continue this hitting tomorrow.

So, after tonight, 9 of Bader’s 12 hits have gone for extra bases.

Shildt ought to be raging mad about that.

In the post-game, Shildt singled out O’Neill and Bader as having good at-bats and added that Ravelo also did well considering he hadn’t played.

On the pitching side, he said Reyes-Cabrera-Gallegos were a “huge weapon with plus-plus stuff”. When Genesis is on the plate, his stuff is “explosive”.

The Cardinals win 7-3 to go to 17-15 on the season and 3-1 in the series. 1 1/2 games behind the Cubs in the standings.

By being only 1 1/2 games out we are starting to put the heat on those Cubbies. If we keep it up they may just fold up like a cheap tent just like last year.

Yep, let’s hope we see 7 or 8 more tomorrow, JJ. No one out of that cubbie pen commands any measurable amount of ferocity. I like Wick, but the rest of those guys in their so called “bull”pen are nothing to get excited about….unless you’re an opposing batter. Big big game tomorrow. If our Birds whack them again, it just may send them into an uncontrollable tailspin.
