Nice pitch by Hud! That one was tightly wrapped.

How about a quick gander at the NL scoreboard sound? In NY today, it was the Mets running total roughshod over the Phillies by the score of 14-1. Alonso whacked home runs #9 &10, “Captain” Nimmo hit his 6th, Ramos his 3rd and McNeil his 1st for the Metropolitans, while Knapp accounted for Philly’s only tally with a towering 2nd inning solo shot. deGrom (3-1) wins it with Nola (4-3) suffering the setback. In Atlanta, it was the home town Braves belting the Nats by the score of 10-3. Our old pal, Marcella Ozuna, belted his 13th home run and Freeman hit his 7th for the victors. Tomlin (2-2) your winner, with Corbin (2-4) getting saddled with the loss. In San Francisco, it was the Giants doubling up the Diamondbacks by the score of 4-2. Belt belted his 7th and both Tromp( not to be confused with “Trump” ) and Solano hit their 3rd round trippers for Frisco. Locastro banged out his 1st dinger for Arizona. Barager improves his W-L slate to 5-1, while Young moves to 1-3 for the D-Backs.

Starting to fall off towards 1B, legs are going.

Way back when, when pitchers routinely went 9, their strategy was to have their legs get them thru 6, then their arm the rest of the way. Boy times have changed.

Thomas, Bader, and Wong putting the ball in play back to back to back. 6-3 now.

Should Shildt try to squeeze another inning out of Hudson? Close call, but I say yes.

At this pace we may end up getting a Bird’s eye view of 7 or 8 of these cub hurlers this evening.

I’ll withhold judgement. Remembering This is the mediocre SCRUBS vs. AVIS Cards…..remembering how CLEVE recently made them look in those first few games.

Enter one, Alex Reyes. This should be interesting….. let’s hope not too interesting though.

Reyes bringing the heat…..a bit too hot for Schwarber to handle as he whiffs to lead off the cubbie 6th in a 7-3 St. Louis ballgame. The next cub with a bat in his hands, Contreras, goes down in the same fashion…..swinging. 2 out.

Reyes has stuff that is second to no one, when he harnesses it. It’s good that the Cards have pitching depth to not need him, but with this being his age 25 season it’s good to dream a little on what he can become. Remember Andrew Miller scuffled and struggled with some injuries early before he got his footing. Maybe Alex can do the same.

Yadi is the only hitless Cardinal tonight. Wanted a couple more IP from BP Lester!
