stlcard25ParticipantNice hitting there by Wong and Edman to make it a 9-0 lead. Sims is knocked out of the game.
September 1, 2020 at 6:48 pm #138149Just turned the game on. One question: Where has this offense come from? The club has gone from struggling to score to an onslaught the last three games!
September 1, 2020 at 6:54 pm #138150So, you liked that word, jj?
I do too. Suppan would be proud of me!

I’m counting on a UConn Game Thread word of the day now!September 1, 2020 at 7:01 pm #138153
jj-cf-stlParticipantSo when do we start subbing O’Neill, etc to gets some playing time?
September 1, 2020 at 7:13 pm #138154bccran
ParticipantYou keep the same lineup as long as they keep scoring runs. Good mix.
September 1, 2020 at 7:15 pm #138155
stlcard25ParticipantDejong flashing the leather as he steals a base hit from a Red to start the 4th.
September 1, 2020 at 7:20 pm #138156
jj-cf-stlParticipantI don’t, I let Carlson and O’Neill get PA’s with a STL 98.5 WE.
September 1, 2020 at 7:23 pm #138157Hey Mudville…..glad to see you!
I know its still relatively early, but in a situation like this, your skipper has to show a little compassion (especially in this day and age) and call off the dogs. There is only but one exception to purposely run up the score on another club when the big “W” is 99.99% in the bag….and that is of course when you’re throttling the cubbies. This lopsided lambasting of the home team is now bordering being cruel and abusive. So please please skipper….call off the dogs!

jj-cf-stlParticipantWong needed this, happy for him
September 1, 2020 at 7:24 pm #138159
stlcard25ParticipantYou keep the same lineup as long as they keep scoring runs. Good mix.
I think the idea is that in a blowout game would be a good time to give the regulars some rest and get the youngsters some at bats and time in the field.
Kolten Wong having himself a game! 4-4
September 1, 2020 at 7:30 pm #138161They are wearing out the Reds pitching. Thus is good to see.
September 1, 2020 at 7:31 pm #138163
stlcard25ParticipantWho’d have thought that Pugs would have undersold this juggernaut of an offense tonight? Miller drives in his 5th run and it’s the Cards by a touchdown and a field goal.
September 1, 2020 at 7:34 pm #138165
stlcard25ParticipantYadi with the single makes it 11-0 Cards. This will help out the ol’ team OPS+ tonight.
September 1, 2020 at 7:37 pm #138166
jj-cf-stlParticipantIt’s going to do wonders for our leadoff mans OBP too
September 1, 2020 at 7:42 pm #138167Since we rarely get to say this, please save hits for tomorrow.
September 1, 2020 at 7:46 pm #138168I’m thinking that Edman is Shildt’s version of Craig Paquette
Except Edman hits better, so far
September 1, 2020 at 7:47 pm #138169We need to resign Miller, and plug him in as DH most days.
September 1, 2020 at 7:49 pm #138170
stlcard25ParticipantO’Neill is in for Fowler. Good to see him get some PT. Thomas shoots one to the wall in RF for a double. Carp is the only starter without a hit in the lineup tonight.
September 1, 2020 at 7:51 pm #138171bccran
ParticipantNotice the difference in approach between Thomas and O’Neill?
September 1, 2020 at 7:51 pm #138172
stlcard25ParticipantWong gets hit on the foot. 5 times on base, just like Goldy. Speaking of Goldy, he now has the bases juiced. How about a granny for a nightcap?
Edit: whoops…guess it’s Knizner instead. Feels like the first time in a month.
September 1, 2020 at 7:52 pm #138173
stlcard25ParticipantKnizner with some good wood on it, and smokes it up the middle for 2 RBIs and a 13-0 lead.
September 1, 2020 at 7:54 pm #138174
jj-cf-stlParticipantWongs OBP will jump .030, book it
September 1, 2020 at 7:59 pm #138175I wonder if the stadium crew would ever start to pack the cardboard fans away bicyclemike, as if they were leaving the game…just for fun…
