Runs may be at a premium in this one. It would be nice to be able to claw back over .500 after that disastrous few days at Busch. Will Shildt go with the same lineup again or mix it up a little? We will see…

Carlson finally gets a day off. I hope they give some more of his at bats to others with all of the doubleheaders coming up.

I’ll also say that if Miller continues to cool off, the DH spot should be open for others to use as well.

Gibson vs Marichal…. Tudor vs Ryan….Morris vs Johnson….Carpenter vs Halladay….Kim vs Gray. What’s not to like about tonight’s marquee matchup? Most predicted scores will be in the 2-1 or 3-2 range, but your fearless one here is calling tonight’s grudge match 9-6 Birds with Tommy Edman registering a monster game.

What’s for din-din tonight you may ask? Garlic and butter chicken & potato skillet, asparagus spears, Wisconsin rich dark red tomatoes, Breyers chocolate peanut butter ice cream and a tall glass of Mt. Dew.

Now Edman pokes one into center and it’s 2 on for Goldy. Goldy steps in and is ready to continue his streak from last night. He walks and it’s bases loaded for Brad Miller.

Miller rips one off Votto’s glove and it’s 2-0! Let’s keep that offense rolling, boys!

Ok then. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 out…really needed to get another run in that situation. Carp is up with a shot still to do more damage.

That’s it for Sonny Gray. He’s still on the hook for two batters but the Cards need to expose the Reds bullpen here tonight and really hurt them for tomorrow.

Goldy with a double and Miller with the home run…both opposite field jobs. It’s 8-0 Cards.

There was a time, on that strikeout pitch to Carpenter, where coaches taught you to throw your hands at a pitch like that. Basically you get your hands out just get some contact on the ball. Carp tried to hook it, which you will rarely make contact on a pitch down and away trying to pull it.

Not sure guys ever do that “contact” philosophy anymore.

KK is looking solid early on. And I love the quick work. He’s a fan’s pitcher if there ever was one.
