stlcard25ParticipantI guess third base is just a spot that will struggle this year. Edman throws one away to allow the run to score and sets the Royals up pretty to tie the game.

stlcard25ParticipantNice throw by Dylan Carlson there to nail Merrifield trying to tag up to 3rd. Well done, Dylan.

Participantive got a feeling this is going to be tight down to the wire. Hopefully our bullpen is up to it.

stlcard25ParticipantO’Hern is most of the Royals’ actual offense tonight. We are tied at 4.

ParticipantWell waino has pitched ok but because of the tie game, we are facing their best pitchers now.
August 25, 2020 at 9:43 pm #1368791982 willie
Participantwell we got a couple walks so wse got a shot.
August 25, 2020 at 9:45 pm #136880Man, I don’t know what Soler was thinking. he’s their big power guy and he just stands there with the bat on his shoulder as Gant carved him up. Good for us, but kinda weird.
August 25, 2020 at 9:47 pm #136881Giolito no hitter tonight.
August 25, 2020 at 9:54 pm #136882
stlcard25ParticipantGant coughs up the tiebreaking run. The offense needs to do something, now.

ParticipantWell gant didnt get it done there. Im not giving up but i dont like our chances against their backend guys. But you never know.

Participanti dont know why dejong slowed up going to second, he practically stopped. I mean i know he has to make sure its not going to be caught but i think he scores easy if he just keeps rounding the bag there but still great relay.

Participanti dont like how this is going. Things dont ever seem to go well when webb is on the mound.
August 25, 2020 at 10:24 pm #1368861982 willie
ParticipantWell webb managed to tough it out barely. Facing our old buddy rosenthal now. go cards
August 25, 2020 at 10:25 pm #136887bccran
ParticipantEdman should have safety squeezed.
August 25, 2020 at 10:26 pm #136888bccran
ParticipantCan’t give away games like this.
August 25, 2020 at 10:36 pm #1368891982 willie
ParticipantAfter you get a triple there and have bader with his speed on base, your top should be able to get that run home with less than 2 outs but oh well. You cant dwell, just go get them tomorrow.
August 25, 2020 at 10:42 pm #136890How many times have we seen a manager put in a pinch runner late in a game? It was almost automantic with TLR. If O’Neill was running, the game would have been tied. Shildt did his part to lose this game.
August 25, 2020 at 10:59 pm #136894Cardinals lose 5-4 to fall to 10-9 on the season. The Cubs lost as well so their lead remains three games.

stlcard25ParticipantIt’s disappointing to lose when you feel like the Cards had control for most of the game. They just couldn’t hold it together there at the end, or capitalize on some good chances to score. Hopefully they can win the series today and move on to take advantage of another poor team on Thursday.
August 26, 2020 at 7:19 am #136909August 26, 2020 at 8:05 am #136919bccran
ParticipantShould have squeezed with Edman at the plate and Bader at third with less than 2 outs.
August 26, 2020 at 8:23 am #136921That was probably the most frustrating game of the year so far. We had ample opportunities to win that game. Molina’s double off the wall barely misses being a homer and how DeJong doesn’t score on that play is baffling. Then Bader triples off of Rosenthal with one out and we can’t get him home. Ugh…. Another gutsy outing for Waino but Gant didn’t have it.
We just can’t afford to lose to last place teams. It is a killer, especially on a night when the Cubs get thumped by the lowly Tigers. A big missed opportunity.
August 26, 2020 at 8:31 am #136924Hate to see that one get away.
August 26, 2020 at 8:50 am #136926The squeeze was clearly one option, but Edman has shown enough bat control to trust him to get the ball past the drawn in infield somehow. He simply did not execute in that situation. I thought they had Rosenthal on the ropes, but he escaped. Not sure if he is regularly pitching back-to-back, but perhaps not.
August 26, 2020 at 10:17 am #136931bccran
ParticipantIMHO and from experience, it’s a lot easier to bunt a 95 mph fastball than to hit it flush straight away. But the squeeze seems to have gone out of style, a victim of analytics.
