A thought or two. If the analytics suggest it was not the play with the best chance of success, maybe that is why they didn’t try it – against a drawn-in infield poised to take advantage of it. Respectfully, Edman’s bunting skills may be different from yours.
That is the second time I have witnessed Edman striking out in a big situation, where putting the ball in play would have given us a chance.
I was thinking of Whitey after the triple, and saying he would likely squeeze there. But he had the players to do that, whereas the modern game is not built that way so much.
On a positive note, Bader looks to be gaining confidence. He still gives away ABs with poor pitch selection at times, but is gaining some traction.
