Well deserved!
November 12, 2019 at 5:59 pm #114202Tight voting with multiple good candidates.
#Brewers Craig Counsell had more first-place votes but is edged for NL manager of year by 7 points by St. Louis' Mike Shildt.

November 12, 2019 at 6:02 pm #114204well I have no problem with shildt getting the nod with a challenged lineup. counsel did a great job down the stretch after their best player went down so I can see him getting lots of votes.
November 12, 2019 at 6:05 pm #114206Only three of the 30 voters left Shildt off their ballots. 1sts, 2nds and 3rds shown below.
1⃣ Mike Shildt 10 14 3
2⃣ Craig Counsell 13 6 5
3⃣ Brian Snitker 3 6 12
4⃣ Dave Roberts 4 1 2
5⃣ Dave Martinez – 3 6
6⃣ Torey Lovullo – – 2 pic.twitter.com/p2Z3Uah1AK— MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM (@MLBNetworkRadio) November 12, 2019
November 12, 2019 at 6:27 pm #114207The three voters who left SHildt off were: Matthew Leach (MLB.com), Sam Miller (ESPN), and Will Graves (AP).
Cardinals’ Mike Shildt wins tight race for NL Manager of the Year honors
November 12, 2019 at 6:39 pm #114208As others have stated, Shildt was deserving of this award. So was Counsell. Sometimes its a shame that there can only be one winner.

November 12, 2019 at 7:14 pm #114212November 12, 2019 at 7:32 pm #114213I am convinced that the 4 game sweep of the Cubs in Chicago was what won it for Mike. I remember who votes on this…2 writers from every NL team.
November 12, 2019 at 7:47 pm #114214I wouldn’t be surprised if he won this award more than once. Shildt made winning a team effort for his entire coaching staff rather than trying to do it all himself.
November 12, 2019 at 7:53 pm #114216Congrats to Mike Shildt! He did a great job managing the team this year and earned this award.
November 12, 2019 at 9:03 pm #114223Good on Shildty. It’d be nice to see what he could do with a more well-rounded roster. I bet he’d really mess up some poor fools. 😉 It’s nice for him to have a little sweet to go with the bitter he is no doubt tasting.
I figured there would be a strong push for Counsell given they didn’t seem like a playoff caliber team, especially after Yelich went down.
November 13, 2019 at 6:45 pm #114306Verlander edges out Cole in the AL.
DeGrom wins his 2nd straight in the NL.
Jack Fletcher finished 4th or 5th I believe.

November 13, 2019 at 8:27 pm #114308CORRECTION: The vote totals for Hyun-Jin Ryu and Stephen Strasburg have been corrected. Jack Flaherty finishes 4th, Strasburg 5th. pic.twitter.com/HzsApPCOXH

November 14, 2019 at 2:43 pm #114390And my $$$ is on Bellinger in the NL and Bregman in the AL for the MVP award.
Wait, what did I just hear? Was that a drum, or bang, or something?

November 14, 2019 at 6:36 pm #114408Bellinger wins the NL MVP Award.
Trout wins the AL MVP Award. He was deserving. Bregman finishes a close 2nd. Both Trout and Bregman got all of the 1st and 2nd place votes. It went like this:
Trout 17 & 13
Bregman 13 & 17r/Esteemed Rat
