Well I just realized my previous comments on this game were accidentally posted in the wrong thread. Oops!
But that 6th inning will come back to haunt us. DeJong looks lost and striking out at an incredible rate. Fowler needs to swing at that pitch.
Carpenter and Ozuna both strike out against Edwards on pitches outside the right part of the plate (right side when looking from behind home plate).
Carpenter looked especially bad.
…wow, even Martinez flails away at a pitch way out of the zone. Thought he would at least hold off on swinging at bad pitches.
Need Hicks to do the same thing as Edwards just did – well, at least get ’em out without a run scoring.
Bader absolutely destroys a base hit to left….well headed towards left if the wind was blowing the other way.
Bases now overflowing with Birds with 2 outs….. with Carpenter grabbing the lumber, Strop will exit as Duensing enters. Base knock here would be huge…as we harken back to Saturdays cub game vs Atlanta.
Carpenter up, bases juiced, two outs. Here is where your #3 hitter earns his keep. Let’s see what he does against the left hander…..
…there you go!! Now that is what a 3-slot hitter needs to do. Be aggressive and jump on a pitch you can handle.

Carpenter’s 2-run single was actually to center, not left. I blame BicycleMike as I was engrossed in his previous post during Carpenter’s heroics.
I wish Holland would break fingernail or something so he could get DL’d and sent down for a rehab stint. He clearly is not ready.
I agree “BlackHillsCard”. It sure looks like the club pushed to action too soon. I think it was a good pick up. Need to find a way to get him right as soon as possible.
