You had to make CHatwood pay for those 7 walks. But they didn’t.
April 17, 2018 at 9:22 pm #49208Looks like Pugs lost interest. Cards still on top 2-1 through six innings.
April 17, 2018 at 9:27 pm #49209Well I just realized my previous comments on this game were accidentally posted in the wrong thread. Oops!
But that 6th inning will come back to haunt us. DeJong looks lost and striking out at an incredible rate. Fowler needs to swing at that pitch.
April 17, 2018 at 9:31 pm #49210Carpenter and Ozuna both strike out against Edwards on pitches outside the right part of the plate (right side when looking from behind home plate).
Carpenter looked especially bad.
April 17, 2018 at 9:32 pm #49213Fowler whiffs on a pitch up and away with bases loaded and 1 out. C’mon, man!
April 17, 2018 at 9:33 pm #49214…wow, even Martinez flails away at a pitch way out of the zone. Thought he would at least hold off on swinging at bad pitches.
Need Hicks to do the same thing as Edwards just did – well, at least get ’em out without a run scoring.
April 17, 2018 at 9:39 pm #49216Hicks looked NASTY there!
April 17, 2018 at 9:45 pm #49217Three Ks then a solo blast to LF for DeJong to increase lead to 3-1 in T8th.
April 17, 2018 at 9:45 pm #49218DeJong DePosits one into the left field cheap seats and it’s 3-1 Good Guys!
April 17, 2018 at 9:48 pm #49219Bader absolutely destroys a base hit to left….well headed towards left if the wind was blowing the other way.
April 17, 2018 at 9:51 pm #49220Strop’s cap looks dumb.
April 17, 2018 at 9:54 pm #49221Bases now overflowing with Birds with 2 outs….. with Carpenter grabbing the lumber, Strop will exit as Duensing enters. Base knock here would be huge…as we harken back to Saturdays cub game vs Atlanta.
April 17, 2018 at 9:54 pm #49222Carpenter up, bases juiced, two outs. Here is where your #3 hitter earns his keep. Let’s see what he does against the left hander…..
April 17, 2018 at 9:56 pm #49223Carpenter comes through with a line drive base hit to left plating a deuce! 5-1 Cards!!!
April 17, 2018 at 9:57 pm #49224…there you go!! Now that is what a 3-slot hitter needs to do. Be aggressive and jump on a pitch you can handle.
April 17, 2018 at 9:58 pm #49225Huge hit there by the 3 hitter! That’s why he’s in the 3 hole, not looking at strike 3.
April 17, 2018 at 10:00 pm #49228***Typo Alert Typo Alert*
Carpenter’s 2-run single was actually to center, not left. I blame BicycleMike as I was engrossed in his previous post during Carpenter’s heroics.
April 17, 2018 at 10:04 pm #49230Wow Holland?! What was that?!
April 17, 2018 at 10:06 pm #49232Well that erases Carpenter’s feat, as Baez goes yard with one mate onboard. 5-3.
April 17, 2018 at 10:07 pm #49233I wish Holland would break fingernail or something so he could get DL’d and sent down for a rehab stint. He clearly is not ready.
April 17, 2018 at 10:08 pm #49234Any way to bring Hicks back into this one????
April 17, 2018 at 10:12 pm #49235I agree “BlackHillsCard”. It sure looks like the club pushed to action too soon. I think it was a good pick up. Need to find a way to get him right as soon as possible.
April 17, 2018 at 10:12 pm #49236Reach into the stands, Yadi!
April 17, 2018 at 10:20 pm #49237Be nice to get those two runs back
April 17, 2018 at 10:20 pm #49238Buddy Norris just flat out pitches great when a Cardinal uniform is in full view. Glad he’s in our uni now….He’s a keeper!
