Soto smashes one that can’t be picked and things look bleak now. Looked like Carpenter tried to throw to second before he got the ball.
A bloop hit and then a hot grounder bounces out of Carp’s glove and then he kicks it away. Two on and no outs. Isn’t this shaping up nicely?
Carlos falls behind 2-0. He needs to get a double play here. Battles back to 2-2, and just misses on that pitch. The backup slider Is Zimmerman on the 3-2. One down.
Carlos gets Zim looking. Game really could be over, but instead still a lot of work to do to get two more outs.
Difo up now…Carlos is still pumping it up there at 96-98. The 0-1 slider was filthy and Difo swings around it. 0-2 and the change misses low. The 1-2 pitch is fouled off, followed by another foul, then popped to center. Two down.
You would like your prototypical closer to have both an attitude and nasty stuff….Carlos has these attributes.
