When you play the game of baseball, you win or you lose. There is no middle ground.

He obviously did not see us in Grapefruit League play last month, as we had enough tie ballgames to choke a horse!

So just like there’s no crying in baseball, there’s no kissing your sister either. If you don’t count Spring training, that is.

The thought of kissing family members brings me to a trivia question to augment the PBP, if I may be allowed Pugs. Who said the following? “If a tie is like kissing your sister, then losing is like kissing your grandmother with her teeth out.” No google cheating.

Beautiful augmentation indeed, Euro! I think I know the answer, but will not let the cat out of the bag this early. Programming note…..Pugs will be late coming onboard to this evening’s game thread, as the wifey is late with dinner….let us pray that the Dodgers will be late on many a Hudson offering as well this evening. This is a game that we cannot lose…..totally impossible….this game is in the bank and drawing interest.

Hudson uses a couple of nice sliders to wiggle out of a 1st inning jam. He strands two, the Dodgers don’t score, and the Cards are coming up to bat.

Molina with a 2-run double. DeJong (double) and Ozuna (BB) score. Check that, play is being reviewed. Looks like Ozuna will have to go back to 3B since it is rule a ground rule double. Score 1-0, with runners on 2B and 3B, two outs, and Fowler grounds weakly into the final out of the inning on the first pitch to him.

Keep up that kind of call of the action and Brian will give me a one way ticket to the glue factory, Euro.

I just got home from a brisk evening hike and ready to settle in for some baseball as I wash dishes and fold laundry. Hopefully the Cards make it a pleasant experience.

Let’s not kid ourselves Pugs. You’re safe through the next few years of your contract. At best, I’m good for an inning or two of color analysis. Can’t eat the innings like you do, night after night — especially the high leverage innings.

So far so good regarding Hudson thus far. Remember that guy with the big hat and cigar who used to run the gun at Dodger stadium for Fernando Valenzuela pitched games when we were kids. Anyone know if he’s still alive and kicking….just curious.

Welcome aboard, stlcard25! Leave the dishes and the folding to the little lady…..if you don’t, it might catch on and then all we guys will be in the kitchen instead of the man cave.

Ha ha! I couldn’t think of a better color guy than you, Euro!

Whew! Ballinger nearly rang Hudson’s bell on that scorcher that DeJong snared on a fly for the inning ending twin killing….sweet!

Cigar guy is well into his 80s now. He threw out the first pitch, with cigar in mouth, at one of the Dodgers’ playoff games last year. Fernando was there too and put the radar gun on the ceremonial first pitch. Cigar guy also discovered Puig for the Dodgers.

Baseball has had to have lost a fair amount of it’s brilliance for Dodger fans now that Vin Scully is not describing the action for them.

Wow…..neat info on the cigar guy, Euro…thanks!! Hey, it just hit me like a Scipio Spinks fastball on the back…..I think you would make a wonderful radar gun guy for the Cards, Euro. Even though you may not smoke, I bet at least one those cigarette vape companies make a vape cigar, so you could just puff away on a big ol’ vape cigar like a maniac with fake smoke billowing all around you and be none the worse for it. And if I were you, Euro, I would go with the exact same hat as the Dodger guy, but for a nice added touch you could have a little red birdie sitting on top of the hat that starts chirping every time you aim your radar gun.

Yadi triples the Cards lead to 3-0, driving in Goldy and DeJong with another double. He has all 3 RBIs.

Hey Pugs, that’s got potential. I did smoke a cigar or two in my youth every Halloween to keep the fireworks popping. I’ll get my agent to start negotiations with Cards management on it.

Trouble brewing in the 4th. Dodgers have two on and one out.

That infield hit by Muncy will look like a scorching liner to left that Marcell had to make a spectacular sprawling dive for, to prevent it from going all the way to the wall for extra bases, in tomorrow morning’s newpaper boxscore.

You’d be a natural, Euro. Oh oh..m…the pitch count is mounting for Hudson here in the 4th as he approaches 80 of them….Hudson gets out of the pickle unscathed! But aren’t those high pitch counts a common theme with all of our young starters….every last one of them….and we even got rid of the King of high pitch counts via trade….Luke Weaver.

Any chance the Cardinals could hire Wei-Yin Chen to work as the batting cage pitcher?
