With just three teams still active and not every one playing each day, I have decided to go with a single thread for the post-season, and this is it.
Tuesday, 9/4
Palm Beach at Fort MyersBy the way, those who are members should check out my in-depth playoff preview.
Anyone willing to make official predictions? I don’t see any of the teams winning titles but all three could potentially win a series.
I’ll say Peoria and Palm Beach both win their opening series and fall in the second round. Memphis fights the good fight but ultimately loses to OKC due to the lack of depth.
The Peoria roster is at 24 and I think the club will add a hitter. They could use a middle infielder and that may be a wise choice as Ascanio is the only SS on the roster. Perri may be the best choice as he is 22 and had a fairly good season at the plate. It looks like Peoria will be his ’19 landing spot and it would be good experience, even if he doesn’t play at all.
Of the three teams, I’d pick Peoria to go deeper into the play-offs. They have a couple of starters looking to rebound (Seijas-Oviedo) and Dahlberg and Rondon ready to go if they advance.
The Chiefs offense is deepest of the three with a lot of potential power at the corner infield. YGonzalez hit .311 and can play multiple positions.
Memphis is as Brian mentioned, somewhat depleted and playing with the Springfield opening day roster at several position and spots in the rotation. The competition will be tougher at AAA.
Palm Beach just doesn’t have enough pitching to carry them very far. The loss of JCruz will hurt.

starts then this team still has the fire power to pull ahead and win games.The Oklahoma City rotation was dealt a blow on Sept 1 when one of their starters went down (Stewart). Most of the rest have not been called up to the Dodgers.
Since the 1st of Sept., OKC’s Stewart pitched game 1 of a double-header and was sent to the 60-day. The second game was rained out. They used short stint games on the 2nd. and in a double-headed on the 3rd. The 4th was an off day.
That means all of the starters should be ready to go in any order:
Corcino- 3.39ERA
Neal- 4.25
Bawcom- 6.38
Lobstein- 7.83
Defratus- 5.27 (probably skipped)All I know about OKC is that they won four straight elimination games on the road in head-to-head action against the (prior) first-place team. That looks like a red-hot and challenging opponent. Either that or Colorado Springs are epic chokers.
Game 1 of the Pacific Coast League semifinals between the Memphis Redbirds and Oklahoma City Dodgers has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions in Oklahoma City. It is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 5:05 p.m.
Palm Beach just lost game 2, 3-1. Their season comes to an end.
Peoria leads 3-0 in the 6th. Luken Baker has all three RBIs and Oviedo has pitched 6 shutout innings with @3 hits, 4 walks and 7 K’s.
Ya win some, ya lose some and some get rained out.
Oviedo pitches a sparkler and Baker provided the power, Peoria gets the 1st game W.
Palm Beach loses again 3-1 and is ousted from FSL play-offs.
The rain wiped out Memphis’ first play-off game in Oklahoma City.

Balanced offensive effort. Both runs charged to Prendergast unearned.Memphis game 1 scoreless in the 5th
Memphis wins 4-2. Odd that playoff games going 7 innings due to rainout. That might be in Memphis’ favor with game 1 win.
Peoria sweeps behind Predergast’s 11 strikeouts, 7-2 .
Peoria starts the next round vs. Cedar Rapids(most likely), with Rondon-Dahlberg-Oviedo ready to go.
Should the Chiefs win the next round, the powerhouse Bowling Green team would be favored to be next in line for PEO. The finals are best of five.
Update: Michael Wacha is starting for Memphis tonight. Ellis could be piggyback starter or they could save him for Game 4.
