Big win last night. Our goal for the rest of the season should be to gain at least .5 game a week in the standings. If we do that, we put ourselves in a really good position going into the final week of the season.
The Doppler Radar shows some green stuff in the Chicago area. Any chance this one gets delayed or postponed today? Hope not because its not often we have a chance to take a series at Wrigley nowadays.

Mikolas 1-0 vs. Cubs this year, Quintana 0-2 vs. Cards. Advantage good guys. Series win would be sweet. Fowler in the lineup too – it appears Schildt is all in for Fowler, but Fowler needs to show he’s not intimidated by his old team. This would be the perfect opportunity for a breakout game for Dexter.
Yadi then promptly drills a GR (That’s ground rule to the layman) double to left and the Birds are in business. Now 1-0 Cards on the sac fly to center.
The 1 run is all we tally in the 1st……. Thanks to the cubs CS ( that’s “Carpenter Shift” to the layman ) .

Might help Ozuna’s hitting if he would lose that treasure chest of gold necklaces flopping around his neck when he swings.
The Cubs’ lineup reminds me of the one the Cards ran out in 2013…just really good hitters all the way from 1-8, lots of OBP and good power too. Not many easy outs there. Thankfully their starting pitching is beginning to fade even faster than expected. They’re gonna have to spend the $$ to have an averageish rotation as early as next year.
I just saw Theo drooling up in the owners booth. It doesn’t take a mind reader to know that he’ll be first in line to wave big bucks in front of Mikolas’ nose when he’s ready for free agency. Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone if he succeeds…. you stick it to your arch rivals plus you get one whale of a starting pitcher. As things presently exist, Mikolas’ stock has to be higher than Carlos Martinez’s. We move along to the top of the 4th in a 1-0 Cardinal ballgame.

Munoz drives in Fowler with a ringing double to left!! This kid is going to be a nice little player!
Mr. July at the dish with a runner at 2nd with 2 outs…and the cubbies are pitching to him believe it or not…lets stay with the action shall we….2-2 count on Carpenter…Quintana just misses the k on one just off the outside corner….strikes Carpenter out on a fastball right in Carp’s wheelhouse to retire the side. 2-0 Good Guys.
