7:08 p.m. RHP Michael Wacha (4-1, 3.62) vs. LHP Jon Lester (2-1, 2.73) ESPN/KMOX
May 2, 2018 at 6:07 pm #50787Brian, do you not update the affiliate rosters after moves are made? Before you used to update them as they happened and then would update the matrix later.
May 2, 2018 at 8:31 pm #50797I decided to give subscribers first access to the info and will follow several days later for all.
May 5, 2018 at 6:00 pm #51070Well, now, we couldn’t sweep the Cubs, now, could we?
Hey Pugs…..I got my new push mower today so I will be doing some mowing around the edges Sunday afternoon and then doing some weedeating with the Echo Trimmer after the push mowing. Are you going to be cutting grass over at Erin Hills again? I am doing all of this so I can watch the game tomorrow night.

ParticipantTough decision tomorrow night whether to watch the game or the High Chaparral.
May 5, 2018 at 9:57 pm #51084Barnaby Jones will be on after the ballgame. Unless it goes extra innings.
May 5, 2018 at 10:12 pm #51085Indeed a tough decision, Wagee12….. and one that the previous poster (the esteemed RatsBuddy) struggles with on a consistent basis. Though The High Chaparral is one I’ve never seen Rat mention. I think RatsBuddy was more into Bonanza and Audra from The Big Valley. Speaking of Audra, she was amongst my Top 5 tv hotties as a kid.
1. Carol Post from Mr. Ed.
2. Emily Hartley from The Bob Newhart Show
3. Maryann from Gilligan’s Island
4. Audra from The Big Valley
5. Marilyn Munster from The MunstersLove we get this third game on prime time tv. Lester usually has our number…but not tomorrow night….not in this game. Following his career patterns and the circumstances surrounding this start, he’s ripe to get ripped. I see a lot of runs being scored…possibly by both clubs.
May 6, 2018 at 12:08 pm #51174I’m going to assume Carpenter wont be in there against the lefty Lester. Or will he? Guess either him or Wong needs to be in there.
And I for one am tiring of Carpenter’s crap at the plate. Taking pitches that are strikes. Then when he gets strike three called on him he acts like the umpire completely missed an obvious call.
If he was hitting .300 it would be more tolerable. But .238 last year and about .l75 this year? Better get your head out of your a$$ Carpenter, you are pissing off the Cardinal fans.

May 6, 2018 at 12:11 pm #51175Great win yesterday but do we have any healthy players left for tonight?
If Jedd isn’t in the lineup tonight I will scream.
May 6, 2018 at 12:29 pm #51178PadsFS
ParticipantWong and Carpenter are OPSing over 1.000 for the week.
May 6, 2018 at 12:29 pm #51179PadsFS
ParticipantI’d like to see Carpenter out today though. Bader and Martinez for sure in against the LH Lester.
May 6, 2018 at 12:37 pm #51185Wong and Carpenter are OPSing over 1.000 for the week.
I have said repeatedly that Wong should play everyday because of his defense if nothing else.
But Jedd needs to play everyday at 3B because of defense and his bat.
Against Lester, he could play Carp at 1B and JMart in RF.
May 6, 2018 at 1:02 pm #51200PadsFS
ParticipantI’d like to see that.
Lineup guess:
Bader CF
Carpenter 1B
Martinez RF
Ozuna LF
Gyorko 3B
DeJong SS
Wong 2B
Pena CA(Matheny said Pena and Bader would be starting)

ParticipantThat leaves SH Fowler, LH Garcia, RH Kelly, and RH Pham (hurt but no DL) on the bench. They should’ve called up O’Neill to take Leone’s place, rather than Mayers, to backfill for Pham being unavailable.
Silly to have 9 relievers ~ Norris (hurt but no DL), Hicks, Holland, Gregerson, Lyons, Bowman, Sherriff, Tuivailala, and Mayers (9)
Plus they will have to bring Gant in tomorrow, shipping out Mayers most likely

ParticipantGeez. There’s a lot of planes carrying Cards and Card’s prospects all over the country today. There’s so many roster changes. Its keeping Mr. Walton very busy today.

ParticipantI’ve always wondered if they employ a travel agent on each team. Do they do per diems like a normal company? Would they shift a player to a private plane if they didn’t have any direct commercial flights? What happens if they miss the connecting flight? Would someone like Wainwright bump the ticket to first class whereas Carson Kelly likely sits coach? I’ve always been curious about this.

May 6, 2018 at 3:51 pm #51225I will take a shot. MLB and minors are very different. Your question seemed majors-oriented.
I’ve always wondered if they employ a travel agent on each team.
MLB teams have a position called traveling secretary who is responsible for these arrangements. At the minor league levels, a trainer or other staffer could get the task of handling local logistics in coordination with the minor league staff in St. Louis.Do they do per diems like a normal company?
The CBA dictates that the organization covers the expenses, including air fare and meals, for MLB players while traveling. In addition, MLB players receive a daily per diem for meals and tips during the season.Would they shift a player to a private plane if they didn’t have any direct commercial flights?
I highly doubt it.What happens if they miss the connecting flight?
Then they would have to make alternate arrangements like any other traveler.Would someone like Wainwright bump the ticket to first class whereas Carson Kelly likely sits coach? I’ve always been curious about this.
On normal travel, they are all together on the same team charter flight (or perhaps bus in minors).
If you mean like on a rehab to Florida (since Spr, Mem and Peo are all close enough to StL to drive), the CBA dictates that all MLB players get first-class tickets.May 6, 2018 at 5:00 pm #51235
jj-cf-stlParticipantWong and Carpenter are both abysmal vs lester but Wong earned the start today with yesterdays walk-off.
Pham unavailable puts Fowler in vs a LHP which we know is a worst case.
Wacha faced the Cubs four times last season. one ND and three losses. 22 IP, 19 ER.May 6, 2018 at 5:57 pm #51236Well I gueas having Fowler .200 career average against Lester isn’t as bad as Wong’s .083 and Carpenter’s .135. Although he’s been virtually worthless on both sides of the plate this season.
It’s a short bench with it’s best player out, it’s captain out, no closer and Wacha has some pretty terrible #s against the cubs. So I give about a 1% of a sweep.
May 6, 2018 at 6:03 pm #51237I have sure fire strategy to win tonight. Have everyone hit the ball to left field.
May 6, 2018 at 7:02 pm #51240
jj-cf-stlParticipantYou’re hired!
May 6, 2018 at 7:12 pm #51241
stlcard25ParticipantNot a great start to the game.
May 6, 2018 at 7:17 pm #51242
stlcard25ParticipantWacha gets out of it with only the one run. Hopefully they can get to Lester.
May 6, 2018 at 7:18 pm #51243
jj-cf-stlParticipantJedds’ error scores and wouldn’t have if he’d just put it in his pocket.
In time I’d like to see Jose learn to just abandon the bag, catch the ball, call it a hit. -
