Look at all of the sleeping fans! Ushers should be able to usher out any and all fans who are kopping zzz’s. I don’t care if they are 4 years old…give em the boot.
May 7, 2018 at 12:02 am #51298Knock on wood, but our relievers have been fantastic tonight! They are causing me no stress whatsoever…. base runners = stress. No base runners = no stress. Keep it going gang!
May 7, 2018 at 12:09 am #51299Oh oh….feeling the heat now as Heyward and Zobrist rap consecutive singles to right with 2 outs….not cheapies either.
May 7, 2018 at 12:12 am #51300Out of trouble on the 5-3. I don’t want to see a 13th inning! Besides…they’re unlucky.
May 7, 2018 at 12:15 am #51301Come on Bader! Pops out to short on a 2-0 to lead off the frame.
May 7, 2018 at 12:18 am #51302Geezus Cripes. Those 3 at bats sucked.
May 7, 2018 at 12:21 am #51303Totally, BlackHills. At this pace, we could be here until breakfast. They used to stop games around 2am. Do they still do that?
May 7, 2018 at 12:26 am #51304The good thing about being at the ballpark at this late hour would be the improved odds of snagging yourself a foul ball. My strategy would be to stay awake, lay off the beer and stay away from as many other fans as possible. The only problem is that these hitters aren’t even hitting many foul balls…the offenses have been that lame….or is it the case of stellar relieving….probably somewhere in between the two.
May 7, 2018 at 12:41 am #51305In case you were wondering, the longest game in the #STLCards-Cubs rivalry was a 20-inning contest on Aug. 28, 1930 at Wrigley. The Cards won 8-7 in 4:10, or less than the current length of tonight's game.

May 7, 2018 at 12:43 am #51306Baez un-ties it and it’s last call for alcohol.
May 7, 2018 at 12:43 am #51307Damnit! That’s probably the winner.
May 7, 2018 at 12:54 am #51308FOWLER WINS IT…FOWLER WINS IT!!!!!!
May 7, 2018 at 12:55 am #51309Always loved Dexter!!!
May 7, 2018 at 12:55 am #51310Hahaha I’m so ecstatic I stopped breathing!!!
May 7, 2018 at 12:57 am #513114-3 your merry merry final on the 2-run Dexter Fowler blow to right….that Heyward nearly corralled.
May 7, 2018 at 12:58 am #51312I think we are the only two left standing BlackHills. Nobody can now call us wimps.
May 7, 2018 at 1:10 am #51313I wonder if there’s a record for how many games in a row that have been won in the bottom of an extra inning game with the same play, whether it was a walk off 2 run HR or not…
May 7, 2018 at 1:18 am #51314Well shout out to Mayers for the victory and 3 innings of work. He’ll be back in Memphis tomorrow afternoon.
May 7, 2018 at 1:37 am #51315Not so fast, Pugs. Off the computer, but still here for the wrap up. What a game, what a series!
BYW, glad you and BHC did the heavy lifting tonight.
May 7, 2018 at 1:55 am #51317No big deal! Fowler won it for us!
We are on national TV tomorrow! Let’s keep it up!
May 7, 2018 at 5:34 am #51323I got up at 7:30 this this morning and switched on the computer to see how the Cards did last night, only to discover THEY WERE STILL PLAYING. Got to watch the last two innings while eating my corn flakes – disappointment as Baez slashed his homer, elation as Fowler saved the day. I take back what I said about your 0-5 day Dex.

Thanks for the PBP everyone. I’ve missed Pugs’ stream of conscience thoughts!
What a series.

stlcard25ParticipantWith all the delays, I was in bed far before this one enfed. Great to get the W on the dramatic homer by the beseiged Fowler. Hoping this helps light a fire under him. Go Cards!
May 7, 2018 at 9:02 am #51330Heck of a sweep! After being bullied by the Cubs the last three seasons maybe this sets the tone for this year.
I feel vindicated by calling for Gyroko to start. Even Jessica Mendoza commented about it on the ESPN broadcast last night. She questioned why Jedd wasn’t in the regular lineup and figure MM would be forced to play him more now.
Also, Wong should play everyday also. He is the best defensive 2B in the NL and his bat is starting to get hot too. Sorry Baez.
May 7, 2018 at 11:43 am #51356Great finish indeed! I was proud as a peacock to be counted as one of the last two posters standing at last night’s thrilling conclusion…… the esteemed BlackHills being the other hardy soul. Due to our grit and stamina, I now find it a near impossibility that either BlackHills or myself will ever be referred to as a wimp on this site ever again. Lost in all of the hoopla surrounding Fowler’s 14th inning heroics, were 3 very special fans in attendance that ESPN kept panning to during extra inning play. All 3 were graced with huge 10 gallon sombrero’s atop their heads with beer in hand. Every time they realized that the cameras were zeroing in on them, they would quickly rise to their feet and give these animated bows while waving their sombrero all about. Of the 3, the one who I found particularily amusing was the pudgy one decked out in a LA Lakers jersey. You just CANNOT teach this stuff….either you have it or you don’t, and this character certainly had that “it” factor. Watching these 3 parade around in extra innings was absolutely priceless. Where else could you get so many visions while taking in a game at Busch? For me it was the great Cards-cubs rivalry at it’s finest, coupled with clips from that old Steve Martin “Three Amigos” movie and Shaq executing a reverse slam dunk all rolled into one….thanks to those fun fans. So for me there was not just one lone hero last evening…..but 4.
