We don’t seem to have a thread about the 2026 draft, but here is some good news.

The time in the poor house seems to be paying off, at least in the draft. It will be good to have a little more pool money. Hopefully more good news is coming in the lottery next week.

Sounds good to me. Hopefully they make the best of it.

Very nice to see the #32 pick. That should be quite a valuable pick player wise and helps extend the bonus pool further.

Really curious to see how lucky or unlucky the Cards get with the lottery this year. This year I think there is the best, clear cut #1 overall candidate available in years in Roch Cholowsky. Fingers crossed the Cards hear their name first as I think Cholowsky looks like a future star.

Does this pick affect what is considered to be our third pick? Does this make our 2nd rounder our comp penalty again?

Nigel, we shouldn’t spend much in free agency to lose a pick. At least I think it doesn’t improve us any.

Nigel, you are correct. But I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for the Cards to sign a QO free agent this winter.

    Quick add on:

If the Cards win a top 6 pick they will not be eligible for the lottery for the 2027 draft. Since they “won” number five last year that eliminates the possibility.

Great news on the additional pick. Cannot wait to see the lottery on the 9th.

so really #7 would be a good sweet spot if we can’t get #1-4 imo. 5 or 6 kind of hurts us.

I can’t see us being competitive next year at all now so we will surely have the top 5 odds.

Although it may be better to get a 5 pick locked in rather than wait a year.

Pads, from what I understand, if they get pick 7,8 or 9 this week it resets. And after De-lost-his-wallet gets his welfare they have 2027 and 2028 drafts to get top 6 picks again.
If I’m wrong, I would like to be corrected so I understand. But from what I’ve seen that is correct.

Well, today’s the day we find out if all that inaction will pay off! Hoping to luck into Cholowsky.

We already drafted his dad. It’s our big chance to get value out of our past drafts by getting Dan’s kid.

    #13 pick sure isn’t good….

I believe that’s just about the worst possible outcome that team could have had in the draft. We will not be drafting a very exciting prospect next year and the team is going to be terrible as well.

A million things can and will change before the draft, but Gracia or Ace Reese would be my picks based on likely availability as of today.

ST25, literally horrible. Several college bats with power should be available still, and at 32, but who knows with Bloom. Makes me want comp round picks from Contreras, Jojo and Nado even more. No more LH TINSTAAPP’s!

Give up 3 runs and only score 1, you don’t win. Give up 5 and score 6, you win and it’s a lot more entertaining.

When going to a game, I’d rather the Cards lose 15-14 than win 1-0. Im definitely not alone in that mindset.

Bummer falling to 13. Hopefully the lottery gods will smile on us next year.

Matt Shaw was the 13th pick of the 2023 draft…..Zach Neto the 13th pick the year before(2022)…..Trevor Rogers in 2018……that’s all off the top of my head, I’ll have to do a little research when I have the time. A decent player can definitely be had at #13.

Well i was reading about the fall to 13. It said since we fell out this year(2026) we will get to pick in the top 6 in 2027 or so it said. Im not really knowledgable when it comes to the draft so maybe i read it wrong.

Cards should still get 4 picks in the first 90 picks. Dropping to 13th absolutely sucks, though. Damn that’s kind of heartbreaking.
