Apparently the forecast for tomorrow is rain all day in the Philadelphia.

We will either have a DH on Wednesday or stick around and play the final game on Thursday since both teams are scheduled for a day off.

    We shall see.

Just checked the Doppler Radar this morning. A massive wall of green stuff is all along the eastern seaboard. And it looks like it’s heading north. Of course it’s 7:30 in the morning and the game is still 11 hours away but it’s not looking good for tonight’s attempt at a tenth straight win.

I am going to Jasper around noon and stop at Ruxer Ford to make an appt for an oil change in the Ford F150 truck. Then going to stop at Applebees and eat my late lunch. Then come home to the grocery store before I head home. My ETA to get home is around 4:00 and I will check the Doppler again then.

Christian Andreas Doppler himself, would be proud of Rat’s skillful use of his Doppler Effect, known as Doppler radar in modern times. I think you may have somehow sidestepped your true calling of a master meteorologist, Rat.

I hope the rain stays away tonight as I think our boys are chomping at the bit to get a piece of some of Jesus Luzardo’s offerings. What’s for din-din tonight one may ask? I have this big ole’ ham sitting out in the extra freezer in the garage that’s been gathering some dust, so I think I’ll be tapping into that rascal today. Maybe some mashed potatoes and asparagus spears to accompany it…….and then of course 3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies for a just dessert.

    Pugs?

You been having them there Catfish Fiddlers on Fridays? I have been and will probably indulge myself again this Friday. Nothing like the CCFF. For the uninitiated that’s Cardinals Catfish Fiddlers Friday.

I missed indulging in the Fiddlers a few Fridays ago, but besides that brief lapse in judgement, I’ve gulped down a healthy plate of them every Friday since the first week of spring training, Rat. Baseball, apple pie, Chevrolet and Catfish Fiddlers…….pure Americana. I know some of our posters out there are hesitant to give Fiddlers a try. Maybe because they are slimy scum sucking river bottom feeders. But they need to put that aside, because when it comes to good taste, you won’t find a better fresh water fish out there…..with a tip of the cap to rainbow trout.

About to leave for the rest of the afternoon. Just wanted to let everyone know the huge pile of green stuff is still along the eastern seaboard. I guess there is a slight chance this game gets in but I am suspecting it will be postponed early.

No catfish to be had around here so I’m usually stuck with trout, unless I get a real yen for piscatory ugliness and splurge on some monkfish. Tonight, however, it will be clam chowder, except I can’t get clams either so I usually substitute mussels.

On the din-din docket at the Bikey Mikey homestead is a pork roast that the Lovely Lady Bike threw in the crockpot this morning, drenched in BBQ sauce. And not just any BBQ sauce, but supposedly some special really good stuff the step-son picked up on a recent trip to Kansas City. We will follow Pugs’ lead and have mashed taters as well, and also add a refreshing tossed salad. I will likely throw down a cold, frosty one to top it off.

With Rats’ forecast it sounds like we may be shooting for 10 in the pen tomorrow.

Oh, no catfish yet for us – we only get it from this Cajun food truck that occasionally comes around at one of our favorite local brew houses. But we do have trout scheduled in the next week or two.

Well, I can feel the team is reeling me back in like it did a few years ago when we won about 20 straight in September

Well, I can feel the team is reeling me back in

Conjures up the distinct vision from Shawshank Redemption where that black inmate is feigning reeling in a big one while saying “we’re reeling em in”, as the fresh fish walk on by. Maybe this is a subliminal message to Carter that he needs to finally treat himself to some delicious Catfish Fiddlers this coming Friday. Sounds like some tasty din-dins on tap tonight for BicycleMike and the esteemed Cardinal in France. I’m getting the real sense that tonight’s game is getting washed out. I used to bring up all of these different weather channels when there’s a possibility of a Cardinal game postponement. But now I’ve learned to cut right to the chase and see what Rat has to say on the matter. He’s seldom wrong with his weather forecasts. If I had to put accuracy probabilities to it, I would say the professional meteorologists are correct 85% of the time and Rat checking in at about a 98% clip.

As predicted this one was called early. Now scheduled for a day/night DH on Wednesday.

This is actually fairly good for us as a great deal of DHs are split. I know we have a 9 game winning streak but I was hoping we’d win at least one in Philadelphia. With last night’s win and now the odds in favor of a split on Wednesday we might get out of Philly with two of the three.

Just another in a long line of great RatsBuddy meteorological forecasts. Well done, sir. Let’s play 2 tomorrow……and maybe even walk out of Veterans Stadium with a sweep.

Rats could have a pretty good part-time gig as a weather reporter. My guess is he would not be as nice to look at as most of the TV meteorologists I see, but then what do we want, eye candy or an accurate forecast?

It’s too bad that the lousy weather along the seaboard results in a washout of out tonight’s action. I’ve always bought into the notion that maintains that it’s imperative to remain at the table when you’re shooting sevens and drawing to aces.

Cubs are down 4-2 in the bottom of the 7th. Maybe that holds and the Cards can be only a 0.5 game out

I don’t know BicycleMike? Have you seen Al Roker or Willard Scott lately? I bet Rat puts them to shame in the looks department……just thinking….is Willard Scott still alive? If not, then Rat certainly has him beat. Miami all over the cubbies as they have them doubled up on the scoreboard to the tune of a 4-2 lead in the 8th at Wrigley.

And of course Miami blows a 2 run lead in the 9th. 5-4 Chicago your unhappy final.

Marlins toss this one into the fire to the tune of a 5-4 walk off loss at Wrigley. Cubbies push 3 runs across in the home half of the 9th. That’s a doggone shame.

I guess this is the official game thread for Game 2 today. Welcome back Wooster! Gee that Romano sure polished us off in the 9th of Game 1. Just think, if they had not traded for our Sosa, they’d have a late inning one-two bullpen punch of Romero & Romano…….JoJo & JorDan if you will.

    Relax gang,
We lost Game #1 by the score of 2-1. Coming into this three game series I was just hoping to win one. We’ve already done that so if we happen to win this game tonight it will be gravy. If we don’t, it’s not that big of a deal.

Bottom line is we don’t have anybody that can hit.
