Flaherty scratched. Assume the outcome of Saturday’s game will determine who get’s the nod in the Sunday game.

How could Stroman & Co. defeat our Birds in this game? Answer: They can’t. Cards win this one 6-3 going away…….matter of fact, way away across the Big Pond.

Did I read correctly that both of these games are coming off the Cardinals home schedule?

If that is true that is unfair. Why wouldn’t each team sacrifice 1 home game?

Taking a gander at the early Saturday night scoreboard:

Atlanta ends the Reds 12 game winning streak. 7-6 Braves the final at Crosley Field.

Miami downs the Pirates 4-3 in 11 innings at Joe Robbie Stadium.

Cleveland wins over Milwaukee 4-2 at Municipal Stadium.

And in case you missed it, the Cubs squeaked by the Cardinals 9-1 in Rome.

Is NL or AL Central the worst division in baseball this year?

I suspect the Reds might start to lose some games now. They have been playing on emotion for almost two weeks and this loss might be deflating for them.

The Pirates are struggling big time. The Brewers aren’t setting the world on fire. The Cubs might be the hottest team in the NL Central now with the Reds

GUYS……NOW IS THE TIME TO GET BACK INTO CONTENTION!!!

    It better start on Sunday!!!

The only good thing I can think about tomorrow is I’ll be on a plane and won’t have to witness their demise.

Is hip tightness the same thing as a sore butt? Like maybe from getting it kicked so much this year?

It’s not worth mentioning his name, but this is what a scribbler for the local paper wrote in regards to Wainwright’s curveball in his game summary of the Cardinal’s embarrasing 9-1 thrashing at the hands of the Cubs…”It lacks the bite that it famously had when Carlos Beltran took it for strike three and the Cardinals clinched the 2006 National League pennant.” Well, that’s amazing! Where did they get this whiz-kid and how did he get to be so incredibly observant and astute? I mean, who would have thought that Wainwright’s curveball could have possibly lost a little of the bite that it once featured 17 years ago? This guy really knows his stuff! Not only do I strongly suspect Johnny may have him in line as the leading candidate for the next Redbird manager, but I also suspect the current Redbird manager may have tutored him…

I’m reasonably certain that I’ve seen some worse Cardinal teams than the one featured for the ’23 edition, but I’m getting very close to being entirely sure that I’ve never experienced a Cardinal season that was so incredibly bizarre. I can’t recall any Cardinal season that had regressed passed the point of being simply bad to taking on the look of a genuine freak show. From ownership to the entire FO, field manager, and to an extent, the players, have taken on a look and personality that could be termed an illustration of strange surrealism. It’s so weird, that even the local media now seems to have moved in on some of the action at one of Ken Kesey’s merry prankster parties…It’s far out, man!

Matthew Liberatore is starting because Jack Flaherty has hip tightness.

Regardless of his production this outing, these are important starts for Liberators future.

The Cubs SHELLED Wainright, hopefully Libby fares better.

Take a gander at all of those wide grins on cubbie fans tickling the London turnstiles today. The Birds are going to wipe those smiles right off their faces. Gotta like our chances of victory today , gang.

I looked up Liberace’s ERA and WHIP. He needs to sprout a pair and flash his stuff. His pitching stuff, I mean. I’m all eyes.

I hope Arenado knows he’s not going to get much to hit.

They mentioned the empty seats, which are white. So that could be a factor.

And there is a routine grounder to short bungled by DeJong. Nice start.

Good lord. Nobody goes after a loose ball and the SB ends up with the runner on third.

Flaherty is gutless. This team has zero sense of urgency and it all comes from leadership and the head coach. The cliche baseball mentality that “it’s just one game” “it’s a marathon” “relax” at some point takes over the culture of a team and that’s who you become 100% of the time.

The Cubs attack the Cardinals look at at strike 3.

There is the most routine grounder you ever saw, directly at the second baseman’s position, but there was no second baseman there. Gorman was shifted as far over to the bag as he could go. Nice display of bat control slapping it the other way through the gaping hole. Too bad it was the bad guys.

    4-0 Cubs.

Feels insurmountable and it’s the 1st inning, lol.

Just go ahead and fire Marmol and let him find his own way back across the pond.

It won’t help any and he’s only one part of the problem but at least it would show the fan base that the organization gives a crap.
