Cards need a mix of 3 more wins of their own or Brewers’ losses to nail down the division. Hopefully the Reds will be on their way to victory as this game starts.

Our old friend Mike Leake could do us a solid by pitching his normal game here. Hopefully Jack is up to the task if the Cards offense can’t push a bunch of runs across. Today would normally be an “Edman in RF” day I’d think if Wong were healthy, as Leake has allowed an .845 OPS to lefties. He has been much better at home than on the road though.

I only saw one thing that slightly bothered me in last nights game and that was Shildt’s hesitancy to take Waino out when he was getting shelled in the 5th inning. It was obvious the manager was trying to allow him to get a victory on his record when he has pulled pitchers in the fifth inning more than once. He allowed the game to get within one out by the DBacks scoring 3 runs and still had the ability to tie the game. I know you have a pair Mr Shildt. Use them when needed please.

Magic number down to 3! I don’t like to count my chickens before they hatch on the NL central title, but a couple of things I’ll be keeping an eye on….

    – JF keeping his ERA on the season under 3 and getting his B-WAR over 5 (4.9 currently), those are big accomplishments
    – DeJong getting to 30 HR’s as a Cards SS
    – Ozuna getting to 30 HR’s
    – It’s been a long time since the Cards had 1 guy do that, let alone 3!
    – Seeing Junior and Gallegos closing if it’s wrapped up to see how they do
    – Cabrera and Helsley getting starts if it’s wrapped up to see how they do

The Cards are paying Mike Leake more for this game than the DBacks are, as a thank you I would hope he would let the Cards put up a couple of big numbers in the first few innings and let JF cruise right?

I understand everyone wanting the Brewers to lose. Just keep in mind that if they lose too many the Cubs could sneak into a wild card spot and we do not want to see that. Let’s let the Crew win a couple more while we sweep the Dbacks and it will be a win win.

What would be nice is for this weekend’s series not to matter at all for either team.

Cabrera and Helsley getting starts if it’s wrapped up to see how they do

I could see Cabrera getting a spot start, but Helsley hasn’t been stretched out all season so I would expect that they’ll keep him in the pen.

Cubs catch Brewers? Unlikely. That Crew is matching us win for win. At this point I would MUCH rather face the Cubs.

We need 3 more wins or 2 Brewers losses and The likeliness of facing either is slim unless we meet them in the NLCS, because they would face L.A in the L.D.S and that’s if they get by the Nats in the 1 game playoff

As it stands now the rotation for the opening round would be MM, Waino, Flaherty but it would be interesting to see if Schildt starts Flaherty in Game 2 and give Waino the ball in game 3 since that would be home game and he’s been more dominant at home.

Congratulations to the team on a good win last night. Got to see some fun dingers! Pitching was pretty good and I thought our bull pen was alot better. Leake doesn’t appear to be as good as Flaherty who is looking really good. One game at a time, get there as soon as we can and we’ll see where the chips land later. Go Cardinals!

Wooster. It was a good win last night especially after a huge series sweep against the cubs, I was worried about a little let down. Although Waino wasn’t as sharp as he has been recently, it was pretty typical of the Cardinals over the last few weeks. It seems when our offense has trouble clicking it’s our pitching that comes through and when it’s our pitching that struggles, it’s our bats that come through. I’ve also come to the realization and accept the fact that CMart doesn’t seem to be as comfortable on the mound unless the tying run is on base or at the plate. As far as Flaherty is concerned, there’s very few if any that have been as good as him.

I don’t think we will face either team. If we continue to win we will face the Braves.

I just want the Cubs totally snuffed out. Don’t give them any hope of sneaking in.

I would prefer to wrap up the division before starting the series against the Cubs, mainly because I don’t want the Cubs to be put in position as spoilers.

First off, I am in the Phoenix area. My wife drives for Uber, and she texted me earlier that she picked up a lady to take to Tucson. Not sure where she picked The lady up at but she was with a young gentleman and that young man was Harrison Bader, so my wife got to meet him. Obviously Harrison didn’t go with her. My wife said Harrison was really nice and when she told him I was a huge fan, he told her to tell me Hi and right on. I thought that was pretty cool.

    Love that wish list!

Getting a personal ‘Hi’ from Bader is pretty cool. I just wish he could hit. I’ll bet he spends a lot of time in the batting cage over the offseason.

Those Brewers are a tenacious bunch. Fortunately, so are the Cardinals.

    My wish list for tonight:

    1. Cards win
    2. Brewers win
    3. Nats win twice
    4. Cubs lose

That should come close to finishing the Cubs off then we can root for the Brewers to start losing.

Arizona is not playing Christian Walker tonight…that is big for the Cardinals as he is their 2nd best hitter.

Me and Whitey Herdog will be tuned in again tonight. We will be switching back and forth between the Brewers/Reds and Cubs/Pirates games early in the evening as well.

Does anyone think that Jack Fletcher really has a chance at the Cy Young award?

It’s been nearly 25 years since I lived in Phoenix, but still remember how the major streets went…..Van Buren,
McDowell, Thomas, Indian School, Camelback, Bethany Home, Glendale, Northern, Peoria….now it gets hazy….Union Hills, Bell ( Turf Paradise exit ). Miss that place…in the winter I miss that place.

    My Wish List for Tonight:

    1. Flaherty finally gets his no-no.
    2. Goldy goes downtown once again.
    3. Rat finally gets “lucky”.
    4. CardinalinFrance breaks down and finally has a Le Mac for dinner.
    5. Pittsburgh holds Chicago to less than 12 runs.
    6. Cincy throttles Milwaukee.
    7. Euro Dandy pledges to never change his new name.
    8. Carter Le Grand loses his new ugly big guy avatar…..and finds his old beautiful girl one.
    9. Brian indulges in some Wild Turkey tonight and then cuts loose with a barrage of jokes on tonight’s game thread.
    10. BicycleMike gets super mad at someone….and really gives it to them.
