What do you think, folks?
Here's what the Red Sox just did:
– Won 108 regular season games
– Went 11-3 in the postseason
– Beat teams that won a combined 295 games
– Beat teams that had a combined payroll of $542 million in 2018Yikes. That's gotta come down as one of the best seasons ever, right?

October 28, 2018 at 10:39 pm #73412Steve Pearce named Series MVP. Three HR, eight RBI in five games.
October 28, 2018 at 11:23 pm #73413Inducing payroll into the evaluation actually hurts the argument since Boston had the highest team payroll by far.

October 30, 2018 at 12:28 pm #73527I agree on the 2018 Red Sox as having one of the best seasons ever. They certainly are the reigning greatest Red Sox team in history, argulably unseating the 1912 club that went 105-47, for a better winning percentage than this ’18 version. The 1912 team then beat the New York Giants 4 games to 3 (with one tie) in a thrilling World Series finale that saw the game tied 1-1 after nine. The Giants then scored a run in the top of the 10th, only to see the Red Sox come back with two after Tris Speaker’s harmless foul pop-up was mishandled.
Back 50 years or so ago, many felt their 1915 team was tops. That club had about the same winning percentage as this group, .669, and featured rookie Babe Ruth as an 18 game winner and a .952 OPS, in the dead-ball era no less.

ParticipantTurning to 2019….
from Bovada:
Prior to Winter Meetings.Cubs 10-1 to win WS
Brewers 14-1
Cards 23-1December 10, 2018 at 2:12 pm #76858How recent are those odds? They look like the ones from October. Looks to me like Bovada has taken them down entirely. Maybe because of winter meetings?
December 10, 2018 at 2:16 pm #76859Here are more recent World Series odds. Note how Cards improved in the last update to pull even with Cubs and Brewers, while Arizona dropped like a rock. Gee, I wonder why?
