I read something after the Cardinals traded Edman where Albert Pujols told Dave Roberts and the Dodgers management, “You’re going to love this guy.”
Tommy really played a key role in helping them get over the top. But I understand us trading him for Fedde. He had been unavailable all season to that point, then had the set back in rehabbing. Winn established himself as the shortstop and Siani was great in center field, and had been coming along as a hitter. We needed a good mid-rotation starter. And finally, Tommy’s deal only had one more year. It looked like the right thing to do. Even the people who specialize in these sort of things gave the Cardinals high marks for their deadline transactions.
Happy for Tommy! Jack too! Getting a ring is what you play for. Now let’s move forward and get to work on 2025 and beyond.
