If you’re wondering why we’re shooting through the gate: there’s not currently a media bubble access system for the taxi squad.
That means we’re on the outside looking in for now. https://t.co/qlcC9zJ0XJ

July 16, 2020 at 8:51 pm #132985I know you’ll give us what you can.
And we appreciate it.July 22, 2020 at 8:29 am #133257July 22, 2020 at 10:06 am #133259It’s unbelievable that the Cardinals have the likes of Reyes, Gallegos, Cabrera, Fernandez, Whitley, and Oviedo, and no place for them at the major league level. When they have to cut the major league roster down to 26 players, they will have to make some tough decisions that will add maybe two more players to this crew.

ParticipantDerek –
Interesting what he said about Yadi and Waino. Some fans don’t place a lot of emphasis on veteran leadership but they probably should.July 22, 2020 at 11:56 am #133265I’ve been thinking that that’s why they were in a hurry to extend Carpenter at the time. It might have been partly because of his veteran status.
July 22, 2020 at 12:02 pm #133266Fair point about Wainwright’s veteran leadership, but on another thread just last night, you suggested he should not be in the rotation due to his numbers in recent years. Hard to have it both ways.
July 23, 2020 at 7:56 pm #133468David Martin posted this on another thread:
Satellite Camp or Springfield Camp, whatever is it called.
Is there going to be a thread on those 30?
what’s happening at that camp?
are they going to be scrimmages?
updates on individuals?if there is already a thread on this, I couldn’t find it.
Sorry if that’s the case.July 23, 2020 at 8:02 pm #133469David, to your questions…
Here is the thread.
The players had to pass intake testing and are working out. Usually they do that after reporting for the first week or so.
The camp will be similar to Summer Camp in StL in that there will be some intrasquad games. My guess is these games will start once the cuts from StL arrive. At that point they should have enough critical mass to have two teams.
There has been no media access allowed in Springfield yet. Mo has been our conduit for info, but he hasn’t spoken with the media for going on a week. That will change tomorrow and I have my questions ready!
July 24, 2020 at 10:20 am #133498Thanks Brian.
I knew there must be a thread. I just missed spotting it.July 24, 2020 at 10:30 am #133501No problem. Hoping to get some clarity on these many questions soon…

ParticipantAny word on live streaming those intra squad games that are taking place in Summer Camp South?
July 26, 2020 at 3:56 pm #133738I would be very, very surprised if there is any live streaming. We will be fortunate if they allow us to have reporters there. There is only a shoestring staff in Springfield.
July 26, 2020 at 4:20 pm #133742box scores perhaps?
July 26, 2020 at 5:33 pm #133759Box scores would be wonderful. If it was up to me, they would be provided, but my advice would be to keep your expectations low. They don’t give us full stats from minor league spring training. Just a few players’ lines each day, and always only ones who did well. That is why us having a reporter at Hammons Field will be important.
August 3, 2020 at 4:16 pm #134384news out of Springfield isn’t exactly flowing freely, is it?
too bad
with all the bad news with the big club, we could use some “other” news
even tidbits would be welcomeAugust 3, 2020 at 5:27 pm #134400I’d just like to know who has been groomed as a potential 6th plus starter.
August 10, 2020 at 12:01 pm #134860Even though there are no games or even workouts in StL, the alternate site camp in Springfield is carrying on. Here’s a little snippet via Ivan Herrera working on his receiving:

A brief appearance by Jose Oquendo, too.
August 10, 2020 at 12:09 pm #134863Love it. Prospect in action. Best post I’ve seen in weeks. Thanks.
August 13, 2020 at 12:16 pm #135046Sources: MLB is facilitating an Alternate Site video/data sharing system for clubs, with opt-in to share/receive. Will increase odds of trades leading up to the August 31st trade deadline, as Alternate Sites were a black box of information.

August 13, 2020 at 1:14 pm #135057I suspect he meant a “black hole”. Anyway, this would give teams scouting information that is unavailable since the alternate sites are closed.
Whether you and I can participate somehow in this remains to be seen…
August 13, 2020 at 1:34 pm #135062
jj-cf-stlParticipantI’ll fall out of my chair if another GM trades for a player from our clubhouse and adds him to his clubhouse, by the deadline. Why risk it?
August 13, 2020 at 1:36 pm #135063Remember that this new focus is on the alternate camps. None of the Cardinals players there have tested positive as far as we have been told.

That’s one of the big downers of the situation. I get why they would want to limit access as much as possible, but it’s not a lot of fun getting zero info on the guys that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing daily updates on. I hope they can work something out for the media eventually.
October 15, 2020 at 10:37 am #144589The farm director shared positive comments (of course) on seven of the top prospects in the alternate camp.
