It’s unbelievable that the Cardinals have the likes of Reyes, Gallegos, Cabrera, Fernandez, Whitley, and Oviedo, and no place for them at the major league level. When they have to cut the major league roster down to 26 players, they will have to make some tough decisions that will add maybe two more players to this crew.

Interesting what he said about Yadi and Waino. Some fans don’t place a lot of emphasis on veteran leadership but they probably should.I’ve been thinking that that’s why they were in a hurry to extend Carpenter at the time. It might have been partly because of his veteran status.
Fair point about Wainwright’s veteran leadership, but on another thread just last night, you suggested he should not be in the rotation due to his numbers in recent years. Hard to have it both ways.

Here is the thread.
The players had to pass intake testing and are working out. Usually they do that after reporting for the first week or so.
The camp will be similar to Summer Camp in StL in that there will be some intrasquad games. My guess is these games will start once the cuts from StL arrive. At that point they should have enough critical mass to have two teams.
There has been no media access allowed in Springfield yet. Mo has been our conduit for info, but he hasn’t spoken with the media for going on a week. That will change tomorrow and I have my questions ready!
I would be very, very surprised if there is any live streaming. We will be fortunate if they allow us to have reporters there. There is only a shoestring staff in Springfield.
Box scores would be wonderful. If it was up to me, they would be provided, but my advice would be to keep your expectations low. They don’t give us full stats from minor league spring training. Just a few players’ lines each day, and always only ones who did well. That is why us having a reporter at Hammons Field will be important.

Sources: MLB is facilitating an Alternate Site video/data sharing system for clubs, with opt-in to share/receive. Will increase odds of trades leading up to the August 31st trade deadline, as Alternate Sites were a black box of information.

I’ll fall out of my chair if another GM trades for a player from our clubhouse and adds him to his clubhouse, by the deadline. Why risk it?

That’s one of the big downers of the situation. I get why they would want to limit access as much as possible, but it’s not a lot of fun getting zero info on the guys that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing daily updates on. I hope they can work something out for the media eventually.
The farm director shared positive comments (of course) on seven of the top prospects in the alternate camp.
