Graceffo is old school with that wind up delivery. Most guys today just pivot. Some even pitch from the stretch.
July 10, 2024 at 7:04 pm #259924Ive seen Graceffo in person. My recollection is good mid nineties fastball command.
July 10, 2024 at 7:10 pm #259925I wasn’t sure if that was a HR when I first saw the baseball bounce back onto the field. I was yelling, “Run Nootz”…Haha!

jj-cf-stlParticipantInnocent little pitch around. Make him pay.
July 10, 2024 at 7:22 pm #259927I didn’t think that was too bad of a pitch to Melendez. Most LH’ed hitters don’t get it started and around on that up and in like he did for the HR.

jj-cf-stlParticipantTied 1-1
July 10, 2024 at 7:25 pm #259929I agree 1TD. Sometimes guys just take a really good swing at a solid pitch. It happens. The good news is Graceffo didn’t suddenly get shy and walk the next guy like so often happens. Graceffo has been one of my favorite pitchers the last 3 seasons because of that bulldog mentality that he brings. The injury hurt a lot. But he seems to be almost back to where he was before the injury now.
July 10, 2024 at 7:27 pm #259930The one issue Graceffo is having in this game is his FB velocity seems to be jumping from around 91.5 to 94.5. It would be nice to get that back to 93 to 96.
July 10, 2024 at 7:30 pm #259931Yeah J, that pitch was almost out of the strike zone and most LH’ed hitters have trouble with that inside and up area. We all know what they do with the knee high and the inside half of the plate, but that pitch from Graceffo didn’t look at all like a bad mistake to a LH’ed hitter.

ParticipantI would really be up for signing Wacha next offseason if he can finish this year healthy.
July 10, 2024 at 7:32 pm #259933Burleson sometimes does the same with that pitch. I think he sits on it sometimes. But normally you tie a lefty up that way. If Graceffo had thrown it at 94, then it likely wasn’t going to be hit. But that was one of his lower velocity fastballs.
July 10, 2024 at 7:36 pm #259934The fastball to Pasquantino was only 91.3 that was whacked for a double. Graceffo can get hit hard when the fastball loses velocity.
July 10, 2024 at 7:43 pm #259935Graceffo’s line isn’t going to look good but overall he was fine. We talked about the homer above. Then the next inning he gives up that ridiculous single to Witt on a pitch 8 inches inside that goes for a pop up to no man’s land. The double was his fault. And then Libby allows the other inherited runner to score. Graceffo got baseballed for the most part.
July 10, 2024 at 7:45 pm #259936Can we just have Nootbaar take every at bat for us off Wacha?
July 10, 2024 at 7:48 pm #259937I’m going to suggest this lineup the next time we face Wacha on one of Shady’s many lineup threads:
Nootbaar
Donovan
Nootbaar
Nootbaar
Nootbaar
Nootbaar
Nootbaar
Musial

jj-cf-stlParticipantRoyals are a fun lineup
July 10, 2024 at 7:58 pm #259939Liberatore leaving several pitches up and out over the plate. We are going to need a lot of runs in this one.
July 10, 2024 at 7:58 pm #259940How in the heck does Frazier end up at 3B?
July 10, 2024 at 8:01 pm #259941No one covered 3B on the throw in to the plate. Whose job is that? Crawford?
July 10, 2024 at 8:02 pm #259942
jj-cf-stlParticipantDang it. Giving up runs faster than we can score them. Gonna need a H-E-R-O!
July 10, 2024 at 8:04 pm #259943I’d say Crawford’s in position as the cut-off. I’m not sure why no one was home at 3B.
July 10, 2024 at 8:06 pm #259944Haha!…I recall watching that game with the man eating tiger on the field.
July 10, 2024 at 8:06 pm #259945Nice…Now the Royals are kicking it around a little.
July 10, 2024 at 8:10 pm #259946Nice, the Cardinals mimic KC by scoring a run from 3B as a result of a mistake.
July 10, 2024 at 8:13 pm #259947
jj-cf-stlParticipantUgh, 6 runs allowed already, again.
