Goldy needs to come through here with the sacks juiced.
June 30, 2024 at 2:34 pm #258389Ouch that hurt, as Goldy pops out to very very short right-center field.
June 30, 2024 at 2:42 pm #258390I wonder if outfielders play deeper or if walls have come nearer.
June 30, 2024 at 2:45 pm #258391
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe ball has changed too.
June 30, 2024 at 2:47 pm #258392One wonders, Bling. Speaking of ML walls and fences, my 2 all time favorites were old Crosley Field in Cincinnati with all of the advertisements and Cleveland’s basic yellow fence in the 70’s. Lynn sets them down 1-2-3 in the 6th.
June 30, 2024 at 2:49 pm #258393Gorman does nothing but whiff…..he needs to pay a visit to Memphis for a spell…..and not just to enjoy their wonderful ribs.
June 30, 2024 at 2:50 pm #258394
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe bottom of the order trying to carry us.
June 30, 2024 at 2:51 pm #258395Pages 3-3……and speaking of “pages”, Gorman and Arenado both need to take a page out of Pedro’s book when it comes to hitting.
June 30, 2024 at 2:52 pm #258396Time to face the fact that Nolan Gorman is not a big league hitter! His at bats are depressing! He needs to go to Memphis and at least attempt to put his bat on the ball!
June 30, 2024 at 2:56 pm #258398
jj-cf-stlParticipantWinn has away covered.
June 30, 2024 at 3:01 pm #258399Six beautiful frames by Lynn today….and it certainly looked as if he had another inning in him. But we should be in very reliable hands here in the 7th with Kitty dealing. 2-0 Cards. Oh oh, Kitty walks his first batter.
June 30, 2024 at 3:06 pm #258400Sweet…..Happy Days are here again in Milwaukee, as The Crew are having their way with the cubbies 7-1 late. And one would suspect that Kyle Hendricks has seen his last start for awhile, as he was royally pelted yet once again. Talk about a quality pitcher whom has flat out lost it.
June 30, 2024 at 3:14 pm #258402The walls have came in, but OFers starting position is also a good amount further back than it ever has been to prevent doubles. I can’t find the link in The Athletic, but it was something like 10 feet deeper on average. That 10 feet has lead to a significant decrease in the number of xBH.
June 30, 2024 at 3:19 pm #258405JoJo cruises through the 8th with the greatest of ease. We could really use 1 or maybe 2 insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th to avoid any possible blood pressure spikes in the 9th with Helsley pitching…..as great as he’s been, he still often makes matters too darn interesting.
June 30, 2024 at 3:25 pm #258408Gorman at .188 along with 109 K’s is nowhere near sustainable. It’s high time they’re going to have to make a decision. Can’t keep him in the lineup or even on the 26 man at the current rate.
June 30, 2024 at 3:27 pm #258409That sun must be crazy wicked out there today, as there seems to be hardly any routine pop ups or fly balls. 2-0 Good Guys heading to the 9th.
June 30, 2024 at 3:29 pm #258411
jj-cf-stlParticipantAnd a one…..
June 30, 2024 at 3:29 pm #258412Yeah TD, there may be some Gorman news by morning concerning his possible movement south. And we certainly can’t trade him right now, as his present value has hit the skids.
June 30, 2024 at 3:30 pm #258413When Helsley’s dialed in, that slider obliterates hitters. They have no chance to hit it or even to lay off.
June 30, 2024 at 3:30 pm #258414
jj-cf-stlParticipantAnd a two…..
June 30, 2024 at 3:31 pm #258415Love this drama-less version of Helsley…..2 up and 2 down….with a third shortly coming.
June 30, 2024 at 3:32 pm #258416Helsey’s stuff was filthy today
June 30, 2024 at 3:32 pm #258417
jj-cf-stlParticipantShutout
June 30, 2024 at 3:33 pm #258418I had high hopes for him, Pugs, and I haven’t white flagged him yet, but he can’t stay around unless he figures out a way to put the baseball in play.
June 30, 2024 at 3:33 pm #258419Helsey is on pace for 58 saves this year
