Do we know who is going to toe the rubber for the Cardinals in this one yet? Or should we assume it will be Lance Lynn?

Greene can be absolute money on the hill, but today we’ll get to him. This is one of those games where you bet the ranch and all of it’s livestock on St. Louis winning the game. At the risk of sounding cocky, I simply don’t miscall these sort of games. So empty your checking, savings and any and all retirement accounts, along with any real estate holdings…..heck, even borrow as much as you can get your hands on …..and plop it all down on the Cardinals winning today’s game. This series had “SPLIT” written all over it as long as two weeks ago…..and today it comes to fruition.

The delicious smell of a lovely pork tenderloin is wafting across the hall from the oven into my library as it awaits the din-din accompaniment of baked potatoes, ratatouille and freshly baked biscuits. The grandchildren, however, seem to have their minds more focused on pappy’s famous rice pudding.
They recently drove three hours to Houston to watch our birds play the Astros, fortunately the only win out of the three games. The other good news is they also brought me a clean new Cardinals cap to replace the old sweat-stained model I wear to impress the other old geezers at the local cafe over morning coffee.
Rah Cardinals! Lets even things up with these Redlegs!

Aaron Judge just yanked another one up in Toronto. I think it’s #30 for him.

And din-din today will be a ribeye steak in the air fryer along with some jumbo crinkle cut french fries. Then a bowl of Breyer’s French Vanilla ice cream. Then a big 7×50 Cuban Sandwich cigar whilst me and Whitey Herdog are on the couch, tuning in.

I wonder if there was any discussion with Arenado yesterday when he loafed down the line and almost turned an error into an out?

Boy Rat and Cardinal in France sure know how to rustle up some quality din-dins. I could picture them both in the kitchen together side-by-side, with large floppy chef caps on……Rat with a humongous 7×50 Cuban El Presidente deluxe cigar protruding from his mouth, while Cardinal in France diligently tends to the culinary proceedings. Talk about a meal fit for a king. I’m having tuna fish (celery and onion mingled in) sandwiches, 2 hard boiled eggs, large dill pickle and Ruffles potato chips dipped into sour cream.

Oli has gone to his Winn at leadoff lineup regularly now, which has a consistent order thru seven batters, regardless of the opposing SP’rs handedness. He might as well.

Arenado is soooo easy to get out.

Call me surprised. A slider down and away to Arenado and he strikes out? I would have never sent that coming.

And Gorman swings at one in the dirt. Those 2 really need to make some adjustments and work on their weaknesses.

Siani doesn’t have anything to show for his at bat here in the 2nd, but it’s becoming gleefully obvious that the man can hit. No score heading to the 3rd.

Looks like a Ray-Ban kind of day over on the left side of the IF.

Yelich sends one sailing into the centerfield rafters with a mate on board in the bottom of the 4th, propelling the Brewers to a 2-1 advantage vs Kyle Hendricks and his cubbies.

Both pitchers dealing very nicely here this afternoon, but we should be about ready to jump on Greene soon…..hopefully. Still no score with 2 out and nobody on in the Redbird 4th. And Arenado and Gorman are offensively lost…..lost in space if you will.

Lynn & Greene in a pitching duel. Imagine that.

Not that either lineup is the Bonx Bombers.

Edmonds get annoying hearing the same thing over and over. The OF defense plays much deeper today. Sure you get some bloop singles, but how many hits are taken away because of it? A lot from what I can tell with the eye and the data shows. It takes away a lot of xBHs at that. Siani’s oppo fly ball was easily a double if the defenders don’t play deep, but instead it was an out.

Double gone bad, works in Lance’s favor, and then the K.

Mikey likey…….and Pedro Pages ( properly pronounced “Pa-hez” ) certainly likies what Mr. Greene is offering up today as he’s 2-2 vs the Cincinnati righthander.

3 singles and we have a run. Pages is always entertaining to watch run the bases. He reminds me of Yadi and Bengie with the slow foot speed

Hopefully JJ. This will be Greene’s last inning of labor.
