jj-cf-stlParticipantSee the footwork. He thinks like an infielder too.
June 28, 2024 at 8:58 pm #258163Was he ever a two way player, I wonder?
June 28, 2024 at 8:59 pm #258164Rule 5 guy in.
June 28, 2024 at 9:01 pm #258165Gorman is definitely struggling. It all comes down to him taking pitches and having quality at bats and the results come. When he is taking pitches, he goes on his hot streaks. When he isn’t, well you get what we see now. The tools are absolutely there though and we get to see flashes of it.
I read he hired a mental coach. I’m not sure that has been worth it based off the results haha.
June 28, 2024 at 9:03 pm #258166I honestly am really surprised at Donny’s progression with the OF glove. Previous years I thought he was slightly below average with the glove, but with more time out there now he is looking quite good with the leather.
June 28, 2024 at 9:04 pm #258167Maddux, Gibson, Kaat, Palmer, Niekro, Guidry, Greinke…I don’t think it’s coincidence that these guys could field their position.
June 28, 2024 at 9:07 pm #258168Gorman is over 1,000 PAs so far. His career line: .221/.304/.442/.746
Kyle Schwarber career line for comparison:.229/.342/.488/.830

jj-cf-stlParticipantAndre fields like Lohse, he makes his plays.
June 28, 2024 at 9:14 pm #258170Lohse could also lay down a sac-bunt. If he doesn’t get one down during a PH appearance in game 6, the Cardinals probably lose the ’11 WS.
June 28, 2024 at 9:15 pm #258171Bling, that is actually a slightly above average career batting line. Here is a quote from The Athletic.
The average hitter now has a Bochy-esque slash line of .241/.311/.390
Bochy was career backup catcher who was not known for his offense. Pitchers have been getting so much better and hitters just haven’t been able to keep up at the same rate.
June 28, 2024 at 9:22 pm #258172Yes, his career OPS+ is 106, which is above average.
June 28, 2024 at 9:22 pm #2581732 hits tonight and one was Arenado’s pop up to CF that probably gets caught 99% of the time. Siani has 2 hard hit liners and Gorman has the near homer. But that’s been it.
June 28, 2024 at 9:23 pm #258174I’ll bet the pitchers over in the AL wish that Judge would have read that article.
June 28, 2024 at 9:25 pm #258175JoJo missing arm side again just like his last outing.
June 28, 2024 at 9:26 pm #258176And then overcompensates the other way twice in a row. His mechanics are lost.
June 28, 2024 at 9:27 pm #258177Burly with a good play out there.
June 28, 2024 at 9:27 pm #258178For comparison, Tommy Pham’s OPS+ during his time in STL was 121.
June 28, 2024 at 9:27 pm #258179Haha!..GG in RF…
June 28, 2024 at 9:31 pm #258180An average bat at 2B isn’t a bad thing, and Gorman has flashes where is is much better than average, albeit with really cold spells as well. You can certainly do much worse than a league average batting line
June 28, 2024 at 9:31 pm #258181They should have a review clock. If they can’t decide within a half hour, the call on the field stands…
June 28, 2024 at 9:33 pm #258182If MLB wants to speed up the game pace, put a time limit on the review to a minute. Nothing more boring than watching a whole stadium of people waiting on a call from NY.
June 28, 2024 at 9:33 pm #258183Didn’t see your post 1TD. Yep completely agree.
June 28, 2024 at 9:35 pm #258184This is the other annoying thing watching a game. RP gives up a base runner and gets 2 outs. Oh you take him out for another RP to get 1 out. This seems to be Oli’s patented move with Jojo and Kittredge lately. I can understand why, but it isnt fun to watch
June 28, 2024 at 9:37 pm #258185It’s over the top stupid, Albert. I like your suggestion, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them make a decision on a challenge in less than a minutes time. The fellas in NY have to check with the odds makers first…
June 28, 2024 at 9:37 pm #258186Terrible at bat for Marte there. Good for us.
