1TD, Doyle has a really good arm. He is a great defender aall around and was very deserving of his Gold Glove last year. I said it yesterday, but he has really impressed me.

Yeah, it looked like it, Albert. Real close play at HP and I thought Siani was going to score easily on the base hit by Donovan.

It looks to me like if the Cardinals hang on to win this game, they’ll be in a 5 way tie for the 3rd NL WC. The standings really take on an odd look. Another weird development in that the Reds have now won 6 in a row…Haha!

I’m not a fan of the 3rd WC. Almost half the league makes the playoffs and the playoffs become more of a dice roll. I don’t see them going back to 2 or even down to 1 WC though since playoff games make more money

Another W on the strength of a nice performance by the BP. Hope it doesn’t run out of steam.

I’m no fan of it either, Albert. I happen to think one WC per league is plenty.

If MLB expands by two teams to 32 total, each league can have 16 teams in 4 – 4 team divisions with only the division champs advancing. That’s only 8 teams in the playoffs instead of the 12 we have now so, it ain’t happening.

I liked it with the three division champs plus 1 WC per league – that was pretty good and allowed for a really good 2nd place team to make it in during crazy years when the division winner won 100+ and second place was right behind.

1969 was probably the worst year in the history of athletic competition. Breaking the major leagues into Divisions, and lowering the mound. The beginning of the slippery slope. A close second was 1976, the first appearance of nachos with cheese and jalapenos at an MLB concession stand.

8 runs on no homers makes for some exciting baseball. I was visiting at the hospital so didn’t follow the game other than checking in a couple times. The box score and recap made good reading this morning though. And the video recaps. 5 guys each got two hits. The two guys who each had one hit also each picked up a walk. Guys with neither hits nor walks had sacrifices. Nice. What I didn’t like was the short start by Lynn and nobody backing up third on that triple. Donovan didn’t head that way until the ball got loose. Buy a ticket next time. I know, ‘but he’s not an outfielder. Hopefully Willie gives him a talking to, if that even happens anymore.

No question that it was a tragic occurence on the dark day they introduced those things they called nachos into the ballparks. That stuff they passed off as cheese had an aroma identical to the stink-bait we used to form around a treble hook to snag catfish. Really bad…But hey, the sacrilege has steadily increased over the years to the degree of the presense of sushi in the RF bleachers…It’s entirely out of control!
