Also BS South and Southwest ExtraWe need to make some hay during this seven game homestand. We were fortunate that we didn’t go 0-6 in the three game sets at Philadelphia and Houston. Now it’s time to get on that roll. Milwaukee is at Detroit over the weekend and the Tigers have been much improved this year. Maybe they can help us out.
I know most on here feel that every time Arenado or Goldschmidt hit a homerun that they are about to get on a roll. Don’t kid yourselves. When was the last time either one of them got on a roll? I believe it was back in 2022.

Our schedule looks very easy for the next month. We will see if that is a good thing as the team may go into the deadline a little over .500 thinking they are contenders, but really a big part of it being playing poor teams.

Harold Reynolds on the MLB Network just said that Nolan Gorman is a $200 million dollar player. Yes, I heard them right. I thought for a second they said 200 million strikeout player.

Goldschmidt and Arenado have become like Puhols was for the Angels. They are being paid for the players they used to be – not what they currently are.
Arenado is several years younger than Goldschmidt so he may yet bust out.
I’m not saying these guys aren’t showing up and working their butts off every single day because I think they do but – father time is undefeated and ….
Goldy is 36 and Arenado is 33 so not a huge difference. They are both now a real drag on the payroll, along with Mikolas and Matz. I’m afraid Gray will be also when we are paying him $35M at age 36. Backloading that contract was foolish.
The road trip finished 4-5 w/l and considering the quality of opponents, I’m not overly disappointed.
It’s been a long time since the system has supplied the ML roster with fresh young front and mid rotation starters and middle of the lineup power bats. Bill is too cheap to hire guys in their prime, so we go with post prime. It looks like we will be hanging our hat on Gorman, the epitome of a one dimensional hitter a la Dave Kingman. .230 and more Homers than doubles with tons of strike outs. Hopefully he works out better than O’Neill and DeJong.
Y’all enjoy these next four. I won’t be able to watch because of the archaic blackout situation, but that is okay as it is too nice to be sitting in front of the tube anyway. And if we win, my routine is to watch the condensed game in the early morning hours while doing my morning workout.
If we are to be contenders we need to take 3 of 4 from a weak Rockies’ team. Now I will say Quanrtrill can be tough. He has a bit of an attitude and not going to give you anything easy.
To illustrate how much the game has changed, both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton K at a substantially higher rate than Dave Kingman…Haha! I once attended a game vs. the Mets in which Kingman looked to have popped the baseball straight up in the air…It eventually left the field of play in LCF for a 2 run HR. If Gorman turns out to be anything near the type of power threat than was Kingman, he’ll make more money than you could transport with a forklift and be on the cover of every sports publication in the country.

Not at all a rare occurence, but it looks like I was dead wrong about the Cardinals sending a car for Walker prior to the “Star Wars Jordan SkyWalker Bobblehead Night.” That’s a shame…Some poor kid is going to be heartbroken when he finds out that his Jedi RF’er bobblehead won’t be swinging his lightsabre in tonight’s game but has instead been relegated to a second rate nebula located in a galaxy far, far, away from a Big League ballpark.
Not only is he there, but putting up a pretty limp batting line.

The Sky-Walker promo is creative and would have been great had Jordan been raking this year. But alas he’s hit a bump in the road. Hopefully he comes around.
Rather than the Sky-Walker promo, it would have been nice to do a tribute based on the 80 year anniversary of D-Day. But then I don’t think many people today are as interested in history as we used to be. And of course all those guys are gone now.
My dad hit Utah beach 80 years ago so it is something I grew up with. Like most of those guys he never made a big deal out of it, and I never gave it a lot of thought until much later in life when I realized what a world changing event that was.
I’ll be darned, Bling. No wonder they didn’t sneak him back onto the 26 man. I’m not sure they even have a place for him when Nootbar gets back. Pages can’t go anywhere until Contreras is healthy and Crawford’s the only answer to an injury to Winn.
Speaking of the Sky-Walker promotional giveaway, the Cardinala are also offering up a Larry Walker bobblehead for Sunday’s game, which is fine, I guess, since he played in StL. for a little under 150 games. Larry Walker is one of my favorite former baseball players and, to me, is the epitome of a 5 tool player. No one swung the bat from the left side like Larry for both power and average. He was awarded 7 GG’s and had an arm in RF that simply demanded that the opposition make no attempt to run on him when he was manned up in the OF. He was also one of the best baserunners I’ve ever seen who not only collected 230 SB’s in his HOF career, but also went 1st to 3rd or to HP as good ar better than anyone. So, I wouldn’t mind having one of those Larry Walker bobbleheads, but I want mine in an Expo’s or Rockie’s uniform…

Always good to hear about your dad hitting Utah Beach. My dear old dad jumped into Normandy with the 101st Airborne early that morning.Din-din today for me was some boiled chicken in noodles, some hard boiled eggs, a Pepsi, and a big bowl of homemade French Vanilla ice cream.
Tonight me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for the first few innings of the Cubs and Reds from Riverfront. Then it will be time to tune in to the Rockies and Cards game from Sportsman Park. Then later tonight it will be the DBacks at the Padres from Jack Murray Stadium.
My late snack tonight will be a bowl of chili soup – not chili – and another big bowl of homemade French Vanilla ice cream. And 2-3 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars throughout the evening.

Very cool, Rats. We are lucky to be here.
And yes 1TD, Larry Walker was something else. He did it all, and was a down to earth dude as well. Watching him out here in his prime was a real treat.
It was fun to watch him play on the opposing team, Bikemike. I recall players like him back then when he played for the Expos used to make me think, “Why can’t we get a player like Larry Walker?” Then, Albert Pujols came along…Haha!
