Why is Siani in the lineup so often? Especially for a team not hitting.
April 21, 2024 at 2:12 pm #248958Two chances with a baserunner at 3B with less than 2 outs and can’t push a run across HP. The torture never stops with this team.
April 21, 2024 at 2:24 pm #248960Gorman lined out and Horton was complimenting him for not striking out. sigh.
Siani is in so much due to lack of alternatives.
April 21, 2024 at 2:31 pm #248961David Eckstein is a guest in the booth on KMOX. Nice to hear from him.

He’s actually the only one getting on base the last two days. He’s raised his OPS 300 pts in two days.
April 21, 2024 at 2:41 pm #248964He’d put it in play.
April 21, 2024 at 2:47 pm #248965Gray doesn’t throw 100 mph, doesn’t have to. He’s got 11 Ks through 6. If some scouts would leave their gun at home and use their eyes instead, maybe they could find us a couple future Grays. Maybe if the development staff had anything besides add a couple ticks we wouldn’t have to hire or trade for almost a whole ML pitching staff, and most of AAA.
April 21, 2024 at 2:50 pm #248966Gray at 75 pitches and counting ’23, 19 consecutive scoreless IP’ed.
April 21, 2024 at 2:53 pm #248967Yeah, he formulates and executes a plan designed to record an out with each hitter he faces. He’s a pitcher.
April 21, 2024 at 3:00 pm #248968There is nothing wrong with how Contreras calls a game when the pitcher is good. Funny how that works.
April 21, 2024 at 3:03 pm #248969Gray at 75 pitches and counting ’23, 19 consecutive scoreless IP’ed.
You had to jinx it.
April 21, 2024 at 3:06 pm #248970It’s too bad our offense wasted those early chances. Gray can’t get a win and might take the loss.
April 21, 2024 at 3:52 pm #24897622 games in, 6 games out
April 21, 2024 at 3:55 pm #248979Can’t get swept at home…
Really need to take the series against Arizona – really need a 4-5 game winning streak.
9-13 and 6 games off the pace already.
Desperate times already and it’s still April.
April 21, 2024 at 4:04 pm #248980Can somebody report on the post game Oli presser please.
April 21, 2024 at 4:32 pm #248982I must admit, Burleson wasn’t very impressive today. But he has plenty of company in the offensive struggles area.
April 21, 2024 at 4:38 pm #248984Can somebody report on the post game Oli presser please.
Frustrations from Oli over being swept, coulda won two of them. Talked about Gray doing just what they needed, but offense not scoring and some guys not “feeling well” at the plate.
Then dialogue got a little weird when a reporter asked about doing some different things when guys aren’t feeling right at the plate, i.e., do they just need to just “hit” their way out as opposed to “manufacture” their way out? Oli seemed defensive and asked for clarification. He finally responded by saying, “One thing we’ve done well is manufacture runs when guys aren’t feeling well, I guess that’s why I’m having a hard time understanding the question.”
Really? Is that how you get to be last in the league in runs scored? There’s a reasons so many think Oli is a clown.
April 21, 2024 at 4:38 pm #248985This is rinse and repeat of last years April start….except the pitching is a little better, but the offense is horrifically bad.
They will probably be out of contention after the next 15 games, so hopefully they will start to clean house starting with the front office.
April 21, 2024 at 4:41 pm #248987Can we already call this another “seller” year? Obviously not yet, but you look at the full body of work over the last 183 games and there is nothing to be optimistic about.
Didn’t watch this one as we had family over today and we’re outside doing yard and garden work. Caught a little of the radio broadcast. Did I hear we were oh for nine with RISP? I guess finally moving Goldschmidt out of the two slot did not make much difference. 😀
April 21, 2024 at 4:49 pm #248990Ollie does not seem to understand a lot of things. They never did any type of “manufacture” type play when their fastest player was in the lineup.
I think an honest answer would have been, “That depends on the players you have. We did some good work on occasion playing the small ball – “manufacture” runs type of game. But with proven veterans like Goldschmidt, Contreras and Arenado you expect them to hit.
I don’t know why I have to consistently tell Ollie how to answer these questions.
April 21, 2024 at 4:51 pm #248991
jj-cf-stlParticipantSnowball effect now. I betya Mo thought he had that veteran leadership thing covered.
April 21, 2024 at 4:59 pm #248994I can’t remember another Cardinal offense this inept. Totally and completely inept. It is really beyond belief. We got good enoug pitching in two of the games this series and still couldn’t get a victory. I don’t recall too many Cardinal teams with half of their lineup hitting under .200. Even if our pitcher throws a no hitter you literally can’t win hitting like that.
April 21, 2024 at 5:10 pm #248997Arenado and Goldy went to management to ask for a player who was a good leader because that wasn’t something they were good at. I think they actually ask for Carp to be brought back. How about putting your big boy pants and start leading by example? The excuse that they young guys took over the clubhouse last year in just that an excuse. What is the problem this year, nobody wants to play ping pong?
April 21, 2024 at 5:20 pm #248999Well, Carpenter is on the IL, so he is not providing any leadership.
April 21, 2024 at 5:22 pm #249001Maybe they will fire or reassign Turner Ward. Have to blame somebody. Then promote some lightweight from the system. A hitting coach who brings something to the table would not be sitting around looking for a job right now, and I am sure Mo does not want anything on the table other than what he brings and puts there.
