Funny, the Reds and Houston don’t play tonight. Seems odd……
They will end up getting nothing out of Liberatore. Same with Thompson. Looks like same with Hence. None of them are going to be a rotation fixture but the org refuses to accept reality and focus 100% on a role that is possible.
I think it’s been pretty much crystal clear what ML role is since July. I do believe a couple of starts he claimed we’re due to not wanting starters on short rest no?
Thompson is plain and simply a bust. Haven’t really seen too much to suggest otherwise and clearly his position in the organization currently is all I need to see on his future.
Hence no one knows for sure. Just because a guy hasn’t gone 5 a game doesn’t mean he can’t start eventually. Hell Javier Assed has made a living doing that this year. Lol

What if Goldschmidt ends up hitting around .255 for the year with 24 homeruns and 77 rbi’s.
Would that be good enough for us to resign him to a 2-year contract? Or perhaps a 1-year contract like Waino took?

It sure looks that way. He has five XBH so far this month…We are on the third day…
As recently as mid July, I thought Goldschmidt would finish up with 25 to 30 HR’s and around 80 RBI’s. He won’t get anywhere near that sort of offensive production. The sad reality is that he’s struggled from the first week forward and hasn’t been able to put together any sort of extended offensive streak. He’s far from being near the threat he once was. The same could be said for Arenado.
He now has 21 HR’s on the season, so only four short of the low end of your range…
He had an .815 OPS in August, and is currently on a heater in Sept…
This is one of those times I would bring my bullpen guy back out for another inning. Kittredge with a crisp 9 pitches. He’s warm – don’t burn another pitcher in a close game and bring Kitty back out (depending on how the top half goes).
Yeah, Goldy is showing a lot of life of late. Making a case to be brought back if he ends up around say an .800 OPS – 26 homers and a .265-.270 average.
Man, Walker way over matched. Couldn’t pull the trigger in the pitch down the middle, and couldn’t hold up on a pitch down and in. Probably never saw that in AAA.
Pages not much better. So again, tie game, quick top of the ninth, I would bring Kitty back out. But Ollie won’t and probably most managers wouldn’t . Still I think your bullpen would hold up better over the season if you let guys go 2 innings now and then when the situation merits.
Yeah, but at only 57 RBI’s, them 21 taters haven’t pushed across any runs to speak of. Obviously he’s been real good as a Cardinal as witnessed by a NL MVP and a nice mitt at 1B, but he’s simply no longer the sort of threat that an offense needs to consistently score runs.

Get the fly ball an out too late. This one might be over here in the next five minutes. Big advantage for the home team when you can keep that run from scoring in extras. Kind of like holding the team with the ball first in overtime to a field goal in college football.

I agreed with the call. Yes, he had it, but it came out of the glove before the play was over. If he had just continued his slide without trying to show the ball, it would have ended the game.
I remember a game one time back in the 80’s where a guy caught a ball and then ran into the wall and it knocked him unconscious. The ball though stayed in his glove. The hitter ran around the bases for an inside the park home run. Ruled not a catch. I always remember that. So this one was not a catch. But a great effort by Siani.
