“If there is one player I don’t want to see back next year that I KNOW I will – it is Scruffy Mikolas.“

Do you not want him back because he is scruffy, or because he is not real good?

He went clean cut at one point last year and looked odd. It didn’t help his results either. I kind of like the scruffy look. Takes me back to my younger days in the ‘70s. 😁

Yea Bling. Sounds like he’s getting it together at Memphis. Good news for Cards fans!

Goldy kind of helped this demise.

4 inning start. $18.5M doesn’t buy much of a starter these days.

That is what King is in there for. To get lefties out. Do your job!

You think Goldy will pony up to the team for his part?

Not exactly the cleanest game in the field.

Oh goodie! Potatoes O’Brien in to try and screw this up for us.

Well it looks like our bullpen is strughling again. Of course you need starters to go longer though i blame that on marmol mostly.

O’Brien hasn’t shown anything to suggest he should be on this roster.

Hot take! You blame Marmol for crappy defense and his starter not going out and doing his job?

You have to catch these guys when they aren’t on the IL.

Obrien has 5 career ML innings. So if you want to judge him by the 3 innings he has this year, ok. Maybe you wind up being right. Normally they give them a little better look. Walker is 4 for 4. Good news for Cardinal fans.

The only thing that made sense about his recall was the lack of bullpen arms. Otherwise the release of Armstrong was to save some money.

He might be an uncut gem but to ask him for anything in that position is similar to Effross coming off of Tommy John rehab and giving up a tater to the Golden Child. Right now neither should be trusted but with anything but garbage innings. However we did use arms yesterday

Soto might consider a move to DH next season. He’s looked worse than Walker out there.

Well 858booyah, i do blame marmol for some of that. Crapoy defense, well he decides who plays. If its a gold glover, then yea you blame the player, if its someone you know is weak defensively you blame the manager and maybe those above him. Far as the pitcher, you dont always have to remove starters just because they are pitching poorly. Sometimes you have to ride em out, not always but sometimes you do. Its always been that way or should be.

Lets be honest. They’re all garbage innings for the Cardinals right now. It’s a 2025 tryout for a lot of guys.

Wild one today. Let’s see, can we comeup with a Yankee-Cardinal team? Not sure. Let’s do a Yankee-St. Louis team (some Brownies that also played with the Yankees included).

    C – Pat Collins
    1b – Johnny Mize
    2b – Matt Carpenter
    SS- Dick Schofield
    3b – Charlie Smith
    Lf – Enos Slaughter
    Cf – Roger Maris
    Rf – Jack Clark
    P – Urban Shocker
    P – George Frazier
    P – Stan Williams
    P – Vic Raschi
    Mgr – Joe Torre

A shortstop is not coming to mind. Gotta be someone we can put there – a utility guy maybe?

Edit – Thought Schofield played with the Yankees but had to look it up. He played only 25 games in pinstripes, but even one game qualifies on my lists.

Miguel Cairo appeared at shortstop for both the Cards and Yankees.

I see that 7 out of our 10 hitters in our lineup today now have an OPS above the mlb average. Goldy isn’t there yet, but he’s only .004 below. Scott and Walker still way below, but a 5 for 5 day today has made quite the impact for Walker.

Walker goes from .439 to .566.

By the way, Brendan Ryan was also a SS for the Yankees and Cardinals.
