He’s not only out of his league. He’s in a league composed of managers, coaches and players that quickly recognize his obvious shortcomings. He has no chance. Normally he’s a step or two behind and by the time he reacts he has no out.
The starting lineup had 3 guys hitting below .200. Well below. That’s a third of the lineup. Two more hitting .230s. So we had little chance before we ever took the field.
After 2022 Marmol must have wondered what all the fuss about managing was – it’s easy, right?
TLR would probably not have this team in the playoffs.
I dont know if Marmol is a bad manager or not. I don’t think he’s a great manager but the guys who managed by feel are long gone. TLR used R and L handed hitting and individual matchup stats rather heavily.
I think read somewhere that a really good manager can steal 4-5 games a year – I guess a really bad ML manager would not win those games and cost his team a handful of others so – call it an 8-1O game swing, tops?
