Bloom will fire Ollie and possibly much of the staff, although I hope Stubby sticks around.
Surely he wouldn’t fire Willy McGee.
August 20, 2024 at 6:23 pm #264969Haha…Anyone who thinks about firing Willie McGee is the sort of person who hates puppy dogs…
August 20, 2024 at 6:47 pm #264971Surely only a Leo “Nice Guys Finish Last” Durocher type would fire the genial Willie McGee.
That link KCB provided shows philosophical differences between Ollie and Mo. We know who loses in that one, but maybe both are gone after this season comes to a close.

jj-cf-stlParticipantAbout the same timeline as Schildt?
August 20, 2024 at 7:00 pm #264974For anyone who cares about the game, no score after 1.
August 20, 2024 at 7:03 pm #264975
KeepComingBackParticipantBikeMike-I care about Fedde. He’s ours next year and represents the entire return for TE.
August 20, 2024 at 7:13 pm #264976With all of the emphasis placed on the HR and OPS nowadays, I often wonder if a guy like Jim Gantner would have been able to hang around for as long as he did. Gantner only collected 47 taters in his career, but was a pretty solid 2B’man who was obviously overshadowed by two HOF Brewer IF’ers in the person of Robin Yount and Paul Molitor. At any rate, Gantner managed to put together an extended Big League career that lasted 17 seasons and all 17 of those seasons were played while he was dressed out in a Brewer uniform. He was also one of my namesakes favorite players…Haha!
August 20, 2024 at 7:18 pm #264977I’m not sure why I’m watching this except that I’ve already paid for it and I want to see what a good well coached team with a solid roster looks like.
Who knows, the Cardinals could get hot and go on a one game winning street
August 20, 2024 at 7:23 pm #264979
jj-cf-stlParticipantFedde’s footwork was good there.
August 20, 2024 at 7:24 pm #264980That Crew manager just looks like a MLB manager. Not that managers have to have a certain look, but sometimes you see a guy and he looks the part – like if you were casting a movie you would have a guy like that play the role of manager.
August 20, 2024 at 7:26 pm #264981
jj-cf-stlParticipantThey can’t wait to get on the base paths.
August 20, 2024 at 7:29 pm #264982blah blah blah they only have one run.
August 20, 2024 at 7:31 pm #264983Yeah but why does it feel like 5?
August 20, 2024 at 7:34 pm #264984
jj-cf-stlParticipantQuick inning for what’s his name.
August 20, 2024 at 7:34 pm #264985I agree, Bikemike. I always thought a manager should look like a cross between Sparky Anderson and Tommy Lasorda…
August 20, 2024 at 7:37 pm #264986I don’t think there are many MLB teams where Nolan Gorman could have stayed at the major league level for the whole season! He has just been awful! I doubt he could hit at AA much less AAA! Why they continue to stick him out there is beyond me!
August 20, 2024 at 7:44 pm #264987Yeah, his career is no longer sustainable, Steve. I had high hopes for him, but the simple fact is 399 K’s in 1050 AB’s.
August 20, 2024 at 7:54 pm #264988
jj-cf-stlParticipantFlash has a quick pick off. Good footwork. Holds runners well. It was worth an out this inning.
August 20, 2024 at 7:59 pm #264990Wow the crowd is SPARSE.
Mo has ruined Cardinal baseball.
August 20, 2024 at 8:09 pm #264991
jj-cf-stlParticipantThat is the strike you protect against w/2 strikes. He should have K’d.
August 20, 2024 at 8:10 pm #26499295 pitches and go pull your starter.
SMH.
August 20, 2024 at 8:11 pm #264993Need a base runner here Gormy.
August 20, 2024 at 8:11 pm #264994That was an all-star caliber play br Winn to let Marmol off the hook.
August 20, 2024 at 8:12 pm #264995
jj-cf-stlParticipantAlmost a quality start. Too many BB’s.
August 20, 2024 at 8:12 pm #264996Whoa, Winn saves at least one run, and who knows how many more. Terrific play!!
