Helsley shaky again and the usual weak offense. But Gray was good, real good after the first and that brought home a winner.

What’s killed us this year is four under-producers, Goldy, Arenado, Walker and Gorman. If the first two were aging more gracefully and the last two maturing more aggressively we would be dang good.

I’ll bet Helsley doubles his arb salary this winter. Those saves will pay well. What a season hes having.

Yep. I mean, you can’t necessarily expect peak Goldy and Arenado but if you had gotten OPS+ in the 110-120 from each of them and 130+ from Gorman and Walker, the offense looks a lot different.

Helsley racks up the saves but he is still Mr. Maalox. The guy kills me.

As for Scott we will take last night’s HR but I hope he focuses on becoming an OBP guy instead of a swing from his heels guy. A high OBP will earn him a lot of money in the future.

I agree that Helsley is far from perfect, but most other teams would gladly have him. I remember the same comments about Trevor Rosenthal and Jason Motte and Ryan Franklin (rightfully so). When is the last time they had a real lockdown closer? It has been a long time. Lee Smith, maybe?

Agree 100% about Scott. Winn, too. It reminds me of when Kolten Wong was pals with Randal Grichuk and the two had a friendly bet over who would hit the most home runs. Wong should have focused on what he did best.
