It did indeed. Then JoJo threw a middle middle sinker that he got away with. Onto the bottom of the 8th.
July 26, 2024 at 9:42 pm #261675Everything’s relative and 19 years of an entirely crime free neighborhood just makes it seem like the last couple of seasons have been total anarchy on the basepaths.

jj-cf-stlParticipantLol
July 26, 2024 at 9:45 pm #261677Whether its pitchers slow to the plate or catchers slow with the throw, word has gotten around.
Do the first base coaches still have a stop watch timing the pitcher, or is there a newfangled way now?

MrperkinsParticipantSiani’s hit had him up to .240. I checked baseball reference for his WAR and it is just .8 still. He just isn’t drawing the walks like in the minors. Still, in last 30 days he is at .300 batting average and just recently turned 25 and did not play in the Covid year in minors. I think he can still be very valuable for us if he can work counts a little better and draw a walk every once in a while. Ride his defense another couple years until he loses a step from injuries and trade him before he become useless and expensive. The Bader treatment. Burlison’s catch could not have been made by Contreras. Burleson appears to at least be energetic and had made a few plays that pleasantly surprises you.

jj-cf-stlParticipantIt’s been a while since all 4 righty bats had a good game, the same game.
July 26, 2024 at 9:52 pm #261680Thanks for the insight Mr.P.
I like to keep up with how many BA points Siani is out hitting Gorman by. It’s hard to catch up to a guy hitting at a .300 clip. A blistering pace. Gormy’s gonna get smoked.
July 26, 2024 at 9:52 pm #261681Perkins – that’s been the thing about Siani that has surprised me most. He used to walk a lot in the minors. But this season has been completely opposite. His walk rate is way too low for a guy with his speed.
Interesting that the Cards are using Helsley here. I get that there is no possibility of a save in the game now but he might better be used in the 10th with the Manfred Man – maybe anyway.
July 26, 2024 at 9:52 pm #261682I don’t know, Bling, but I have to think that Rickey, Lou, Tim or Vince would steal 150…By the break.
July 26, 2024 at 9:55 pm #261684
jj-cf-stlParticipantTime to find a way.
July 26, 2024 at 9:56 pm #261685We need Siani to come up with one of those walks we were discussing.
And never mind. Noot in for Mikey Speeds.
July 26, 2024 at 9:58 pm #261686Now, Pages threw out Lane Thomas trying to steal second in the top of the ninth in a tie game. Big play.
July 26, 2024 at 10:01 pm #261687Wasn’t it me always said Thomas is no good?
July 26, 2024 at 10:03 pm #261688LOL

jj-cf-stlParticipantNats lead mlb in SB attempts. More about them than us.
July 26, 2024 at 10:04 pm #261692“If the other team scores 1, you have to score 2″…That Edmonds is a mathematical genius.
July 26, 2024 at 10:09 pm #261694Now a bit of a pickle. Bases loaded. Young coming to the plate.
July 26, 2024 at 10:12 pm #261695Lousy first step from Carlson in RF.
July 26, 2024 at 10:12 pm #261696Carlson initially broke slightly in and then went back. It was hit hard. But it was catch-able. Carlson really hurting the team today.
July 26, 2024 at 10:13 pm #261699Burleson would of had it.
July 26, 2024 at 10:13 pm #261700Man. Rule 5 guy in the 10th sacks jammed.
July 26, 2024 at 10:14 pm #261701And this inning went from potentially really good to a complete disaster. I feel a little bad for Fernandez.
July 26, 2024 at 10:17 pm #261702What did that triple look like?
July 26, 2024 at 10:18 pm #261703It would have been a good play to catch that ball. But not a “great play” and in St Louis we’ve had years of outfielders consistently at least making the good plays (with a few noted exceptions).
July 26, 2024 at 10:20 pm #261704Carlson misjudged it off the bat and took a half step in. Just didn’t have time to correct the misstep before the baseball sailed out of reach of his glove and to the wall.
