jj-cf-stlParticipantBucs D saves a run.
July 22, 2024 at 7:11 pm #261236
jj-cf-stlParticipantCutch batting to start the 3rd time thru their lineup.
July 22, 2024 at 7:11 pm #261237Yeah, it sure did. Maybe two. Almost looked like Keller worked around Contreras. I was hoping Donovan would make him pay. Almost did.
July 22, 2024 at 7:13 pm #261238
jj-cf-stlParticipantAndre is on the doorstep of a Quality Start.
July 22, 2024 at 7:22 pm #261240Pallante has now recorded 17 outs. Three by strikeout and 12 by groundout. He is a groundout machine.
July 22, 2024 at 7:26 pm #261241And finishes off his night with yet another ground out. How fitting.
Again, another start where in no way shape or form did Andre look to be dominating, but because he induces so many balls on the ground, he generally remains effective. I don’t know much, but I do know that balls on the ground have a zero percent chance of going over the outfield wall. Someone should let Lynn know that little secret.
July 22, 2024 at 7:28 pm #261242
jj-cf-stlParticipantKeller had a short start before the break.
July 22, 2024 at 7:29 pm #261243Yeah, he’s been getting GB’s since his ’22 rookie season. He got a GB from Segura after the Cardinal manager left an injured pitcher in the game to load the bases in game 1 of the ’22 NLWC, but it bled through to the OF.
July 22, 2024 at 7:31 pm #261244
jj-cf-stlParticipantI still think Edman should have had that. I thought he overran it.
July 22, 2024 at 7:33 pm #261245Yeah, he should have saved us from the whiz-kid. Just wasn’t meant to be.
July 22, 2024 at 7:33 pm #261246
jj-cf-stlParticipantAnd then Arenado whiffed while re-treating.
July 22, 2024 at 7:34 pm #261247If you need a double play grounder, Andre should be choice numero uno with the game on the line. But yeah, some of those grounders get through. For whatever reason, that seems to have occurred less and less lately. I’m wondering if the Cardinals have changed their infield defensive positioning a bit.
July 22, 2024 at 7:36 pm #261248
jj-cf-stlParticipantI thought the D wilted, not the ground ball pitcher.
July 22, 2024 at 7:39 pm #261249Yeah, Arenado let it bounce on through. At any rate, Pallante got precisely what was called for. When I saw Segura take the weak, off-balance swing to roll it to the right side of the IF I thought we had escaped disaster, but as Belushi used to say, “But, NOOOOOOO”…Haha!
July 22, 2024 at 7:42 pm #261250
jj-cf-stlParticipantExactly.
July 22, 2024 at 7:43 pm #261251Palacios with a very nice piece of hitting as he essentially hit it off his knee on the ground.
And now Arenado guns down Suwinski at home. Nice throw and tag.
July 22, 2024 at 7:43 pm #261252Roycroft looking like McQueen and Bronson with the escape.
July 22, 2024 at 7:45 pm #261253I was skeptical when they sent Pallante down to stretch him out as a starter.
July 22, 2024 at 7:45 pm #261254I like Roycroft a lot now. I never paid him much attention in the minors. But his stuff is really good. His main problem is he gets a bit wild.
July 22, 2024 at 7:48 pm #261255Chappy’s still doing his thing. Hopefully the Redbird bats can throw off his routine.
July 22, 2024 at 7:51 pm #261256For all the time I can remember, we’ve always struggled mightily to hit Chapman. Our only success has ever been watching him walk guys.
July 22, 2024 at 7:52 pm #261257TV announcers say the Cubs have officially decided they are sellers at the deadline.
July 22, 2024 at 7:53 pm #261258
jj-cf-stlParticipantKing = another ground ball guy. I’m sensing a trend
July 22, 2024 at 7:59 pm #261260
jj-cf-stlParticipantGoing off the rails for King.
July 22, 2024 at 7:59 pm #261261SOMEBODY EXPLAIN TO ME WHY MARMOL DID NOT WALK GONZALES???????
