The Pirates didn’t roll out Skenes and Keller to open the second half in their series vs the Phillies. That means we get them. Keller tonight. I am really looking forward to seeing what our young hitters can do here. Ollie went with a performance based lineup yesterday, and lets hope to see the same again. Pallante is worked up to a 100 pitch guy now, so he goes against Keller apples to apples. I hope Andre is the kind of individual who finds that a thrilling opportunity to show what he’s got. I hope we can pull this off.

Braves, Cards, Bucs have scored almost the same # of runs. I expect the Bucs pitching to be better than the Braves. Look for fast low scoring NL games. I like it. Pallante can start to solidify his starting role. Don’t let McCuth or Reynolds beat you.

Milwaukee is at the Cubs tonight. I dunno, I just can’t seem to find myself rooting for the Cubs in any way, shape, or form. It’s a three game series so I assume one team will win two of the three.

We more than likely will get swept by the Pirates this week. With Keller and Skenes going the first two games those are pretty much automatic losses. And undoubtedly we will then lose the final game on Wednesday.

This Pirates series could doom us. By Friday night we could be well out of the division race and have also fallen out of the wild card race.

Me too Rat. I would be fine with a sweep by the Crew to further demoralize the Small Bears.

Meanwhile the Pirates are 8-2 in their last 10. We will have our hands full.

Or we could trade for Keller and throw him at the Bucs tomorrow 😉

I don’t at all understand the logic behind the thought of wanting a team that you’re chasing to win a solitary game, much less 3 in row.

If they were playing any other team than the team they are facing tonight I would agree. The team from the north side of Chicago needs to be buried.

Full stagger vs their righty. Pages starting equals 5 righties for us.

We beat Keller on July 2nd.

I’ll worry about the Cubbies if the Cardinals are are either playing or ever looking up at them. Right now, the arithmetic tells me that it’s in the best interest of the Cardinals for the Brewers to be buried.

Good start of the runners to avoid the DP.

Did Contreras miss a hit and run sign there with Burleson running off first with one down in the third?

That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t know why Willson wasn’t swinging at strike 3 anyway. That looked as ugly as ugly gets as Burly was easily thrown out.

I read ugly on Gameday play by play too.

Hard to say, but even though Burleson’s collected 7 SB’s and only been CS 3 times this season, I don’t like to see the running game placed into action with him as the baserunner.

Pallante does well when guys swing at junk or when the opposing lineup has a bunch of lefties. Neither is the case tonight. Pallante now at 64 pitches. Pallante also terrible at holding runners. He takes a long time to release the ball. Those steals shouldn’t count against Pages.

Pallante getting squeezed a bit as well. Several strikes called balls. He still is rolling up the grounders though.

I write that and again he doesn’t get a called strike on his arm side of the plate. He’s getting nothing called a strike over there even when they are. It leads to walk #2.

And now Pallante picks off Suwinski but Goldy has trouble getting it out of his glove and then throws high. Marmol complained that the runner ran out of the baseline. They may be right. But it’s not challenge-able so they are just challenging if the runner was safe.

Cards lose their challenge as he was easily safe even if he may have run out of the baseline.

Hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think the challenge is going to do any good here. Looked like Goldschmidt just couldn’t find the handle and then made a bad throw.

I thought Burly was sent on a hit and run to avoid the DP they got anyway.

Nice…Gorman scuffs up the yellow paint on the fair pole with the game tying solo tater!

Keller’s going to get his pitch count up just seeing if he’s okay after the comebacker…
