I can see the game unfolding like this- Cardinals get an early lead which Flaherty holds until his departure. Cardinals tack on some insurance runs in the 7th and 8th eventually holding on for a 5-3 victory.
I’d add continue putting the ball into play. Only 5 K’s and nobody more than once last night. It seemed like we were bad, but I didn’t realize the Cardinals were the worst team in all of MLB in scoring runs with a man on third and less than 2 outs until they flashed that stat last night.
Agree that Braves fans don’t deserve anything. They outclass only Cubs and Yankees fans in my book. And I still have visions of Jane freakin’ Fonda doing that stupid chop in the 90s. Let’s get win #2 today.
I know every Cards’ fan would like to see a lot runs early, but that’s not how this team works, especially for Jack. You just hope Jack keeps it close and the bullpen game goes the right way again.

With the way they’ve been hitting lately, having DeJong, Bader, pitcher, and Fowler bat consecutively is probably not going to work most games. They were fortunate yesterday, but Shildt needs to do something different later in the series. Bader would’ve probably looked better on his two Ks today if he had been blindfolded. Folty is obviously not a good matchup for him.
We’ve only had 2 hits so far, Ozuna and Molina. We have been swinging at strikes. Thought Goldy and Wong both had dingers but both were short. I’m up for small ball too.
This offense is really bad today. I think it’s going to take Goldy or Ozuna running into one and the pitching to continue keeping the Braves off the board. This team won’t get there unless the defense and pitching take them.
We are trying to pull his stuff. Lots of ground balls. Hit it the other way or up the middle. We have swung a couple of times at ball four. Ground outs both times. Put pressure on him by meeting his junk.
I hate our offense. You can pretty much write the script whenever Flaherty starts. A really great job, guys.
