I can see the game unfolding like this- Cardinals get an early lead which Flaherty holds until his departure. Cardinals tack on some insurance runs in the 7th and 8th eventually holding on for a 5-3 victory.
October 4, 2019 at 1:54 pm #110173I’d add continue putting the ball into play. Only 5 K’s and nobody more than once last night. It seemed like we were bad, but I didn’t realize the Cardinals were the worst team in all of MLB in scoring runs with a man on third and less than 2 outs until they flashed that stat last night.

stlcard25ParticipantAtlanta fans are still miserable. They deserve to win nothing at all.
October 4, 2019 at 4:00 pm #110192Braves take the lead 1-0 in the first on Donaldson’s RBI single.
October 4, 2019 at 4:43 pm #110201Agree that Braves fans don’t deserve anything. They outclass only Cubs and Yankees fans in my book. And I still have visions of Jane freakin’ Fonda doing that stupid chop in the 90s. Let’s get win #2 today.
October 4, 2019 at 4:45 pm #110202I know every Cards’ fan would like to see a lot runs early, but that’s not how this team works, especially for Jack. You just hope Jack keeps it close and the bullpen game goes the right way again.
October 4, 2019 at 4:49 pm #110203Well guess we know where this plays going
October 4, 2019 at 4:50 pm #110204Good time for a k
October 4, 2019 at 4:51 pm #110205This is pretty close to a must win game
I agree with you BrockLou, but it’s a must win for the Braves, not us.
Flaherty is not sharp, but holding his own right now. Gotta get Swanson here…
October 4, 2019 at 4:52 pm #110206Man all that hooey bout’ our defense. Cardinals turn a gem on defense. DP! Wheres the replay on that one!
October 4, 2019 at 4:53 pm #110207Some very nice defense there getting Makakis.
October 4, 2019 at 4:59 pm #110208Looks like I haven’t missed much…except 7 Cards punching out
October 4, 2019 at 5:00 pm #110209Once again, Flaherty just can’t get any help from the offense. Getting to be a habit.
October 4, 2019 at 5:09 pm #110211Over and over again this act from the no hit Cards when this guy pitches. Infuriating.
October 4, 2019 at 5:15 pm #110212With the way they’ve been hitting lately, having DeJong, Bader, pitcher, and Fowler bat consecutively is probably not going to work most games. They were fortunate yesterday, but Shildt needs to do something different later in the series. Bader would’ve probably looked better on his two Ks today if he had been blindfolded. Folty is obviously not a good matchup for him.
October 4, 2019 at 5:16 pm #110213We’ve only had 2 hits so far, Ozuna and Molina. We have been swinging at strikes. Thought Goldy and Wong both had dingers but both were short. I’m up for small ball too.
October 4, 2019 at 5:17 pm #110214Boy Edmans looking really smooth at third
October 4, 2019 at 5:21 pm #110215Flahertys cruisin’ needs some runs
October 4, 2019 at 5:22 pm #110216Time for the offense to do something!
October 4, 2019 at 5:25 pm #110217Molina taps a single.
October 4, 2019 at 5:30 pm #110218This offense is really bad today. I think it’s going to take Goldy or Ozuna running into one and the pitching to continue keeping the Braves off the board. This team won’t get there unless the defense and pitching take them.
October 4, 2019 at 5:40 pm #110222We are trying to pull his stuff. Lots of ground balls. Hit it the other way or up the middle. We have swung a couple of times at ball four. Ground outs both times. Put pressure on him by meeting his junk.

stlcard25ParticipantI hate our offense. You can pretty much write the script whenever Flaherty starts. A really great job, guys.
October 4, 2019 at 5:45 pm #110224Who couldn’t see that Duvall homer coming. 3-0
Bullpen should’ve been up after the McCann walk.
October 4, 2019 at 5:45 pm #110225I disagree with those who say this isn’t a must win game because I am not confident we can win both games at home.
