I hope Shildt is spending almost all his time worrying about the team and almost never paying attention to the average fan through print media or online. Paying attention to fans through direct contact should be his only interaction with them. He is the one paid to make the on-field decisions for the team. He shouldn’t let fans’ opinions affect him or influence him in any way.
June 27, 2019 at 8:35 pm #96007It’s hard not to notice that Shildt had this reaction immediately after hosting friends from around baseball and lots of folks in the public for a golf tournament Monday. He referred a couple times to things someone said to him. Suspect, for better or worse, it got in his ear. https://t.co/X4e48x4TSV

June 28, 2019 at 9:12 am #96034No this guy is not an established or esteemed journalist but these sentiments do reflect how some members of the fan base feel.
Since apparently some are buying Shildt's nonsense and peddling this #STLCards team as some sort of version of Whiteyball, let's put something in perspective. The 1985 Cardinals stole 314 bases. This current team has 55.
Just stop.

Mike Shildt was upset yesterday about too much focus being on the #STLCards' atrocious May and not enough on their good June.
The Cardinals are one game over .500 in June.#TimeToFly

Shildt abbreviated: “Respect us because our division is bad.” #TimeToFly

First the fans forced Mo to make ineffective deadline trades for no reason. Now they're failing to respect a third place team that swept a series last month. What's wrong with you people? I hope you know that you're the *real* problem here. #TimeToFly #STLCards

Seriously, though, this recent jag by #STLCards management where they blame the fans–who still buy 3.5 million tickets for a team that has missed the playoffs since 2015– is deeply bizarre. It's evidence of deep dysfunction setting in to that organization. A bunker mentality. pic.twitter.com/e0ogupCAt6

June 28, 2019 at 4:09 pm #96076Did I miss something? Where did the management recently blame the fans?
June 28, 2019 at 5:12 pm #96077Did I miss something? Where did the management recently blame the fans?
Shildt blamed the fans in his speech on the other day. “I thought St. Louis appreciated good baseball.”
June 28, 2019 at 5:29 pm #96078Once again, there is no proof that was aimed at the fans. I thought is was aimed at the sportswriters.

Hahahahaha wow. Okay. This explains everything in all of my interactions with you.
June 28, 2019 at 8:57 pm #96090That’s alright BHC, I known for awhile now that you look for the negative in everything Cardinals related.
June 28, 2019 at 9:07 pm #96091You got me pegged, forsch. I’ve known for a long time from interacting with you here and on other sites that you’ll defend this organization to the very end, no matter how far they’ve sunk. I guess I should invest in some rose colored glasses and then I’ll be more positive and accept everything is fine like you.
June 28, 2019 at 9:20 pm #96092BHC, you don’t understand. I have told you before that this is the only site that I post on. Well, except for the site that the banned trio posts on. I know you are not on that site.
Also, I have said many times that things are NOT all OK. I just don’t look for the negative in everything.
June 28, 2019 at 9:22 pm #96093Then its a major coincidence you and the poster on that site share the same handle.
June 28, 2019 at 9:26 pm #96095It is a coincidence. But considering that Bob Forsch was one of the great Cardinal pitchers from the ’70s and ’80s that many fans remember, it is not surprising. Just like there are many posters who use Cardinals in their handle or Pujols, etc.
June 28, 2019 at 9:39 pm #96098Except for the site that the banned trio posts on.
Ah the 3 Amigos ( Diz, Austin & Easton )…. haven’t heard about those swell chaps in quite a while, Forschster. Hope they are flourishing. We sure have seen quite the cast of characters amble on thru these waters over the years. Unfortunately, I have forgot many of their names. “U F A N” of all of them, may have literally took the cake. He definitely led the league in suspensions every year until his eventual banishment. I must be getting old as I have now forgot what he did that was the final straw to extinguish his tenure here at The Cardinal Nation. And then there was the incomparable “PhilSkill”. How about the very intelligent and usually amusing “JMo”, or “JModene” if you will, who hailed from the great State of Nevada. Like BicyleMike, boy could he tell a story! There were many many more….

June 28, 2019 at 9:54 pm #96102Yes, Pugs, there were. I miss a lot of them. That’s a time when the former incarnation of this site was just like the minors discussions around here. Mostly objective, fair observations about players and the team. Not very much whining went on. Even during 2007 and 2008, it was mostly an objective site.
Ironically, the last 3 years, the Cardinals have won as many or more games than the 2006 World Champion Cardinals team won in the regular season. (Although, I would call that 2006 team a better team than the last 3 Cardinal teams.)
June 28, 2019 at 10:25 pm #96109It was a fun era, Forschster. Both with our Cardinals and this site. So many many varied personalities. I think our current posters would get a big kick out of them. But you know, we’ll be saying great things about this era 10 years from now too. I’m a late bloomer, as I didn’t catch on to this until about a decade ago. When I was in my late 20’s, I longed for my carefree days as a college student. Then in my late 30’s, I looked back at my 20’s and wished for their return. Then in my 40’s, I would have done almost anything to return to the 30’s. I finally learned to live in the moment…..to realize that the great times are actually occurring right now.
June 28, 2019 at 10:55 pm #96111You’re probably right, Pugs. But do you ever get the feeling that we’re missing the catcher’s perspective here?
June 29, 2019 at 7:13 am #96137What people allegedly post or do not post on other sites is irrelevant here. Irrelevant. What you are used to doing on other sites is not the way we do it here.
The recent trend of too much talking about other posters, and putting derogatory labels on them to try to bait them, and not enough posting about Cardinals baseball is getting tiring. I suggest reading the published site rules of conduct so you won’t be surprised if action is taken. Posting here is a privilege, not a right.
June 29, 2019 at 7:45 am #96139Go Birds!
June 29, 2019 at 9:54 am #96158Commenting about other sites that people comment on is bad. Got it.
Telling others to find a new team to watch is fine. Got it.
June 29, 2019 at 10:17 am #96163BHC, whatever issues you have with others at other sites, don’t bring them here.
Moderators often deal with poster issues via email privately. However, when one responds with a personal attack on another poster using inappropriate language, the rebuke is public and fast, before the situation spirals out of control.
When you question moderator decisions publicly, which is against posted site rules by the way, you will get a public response. Time to stop pushing the envelope, please. Contact me via email if you want to discuss further.
Back to baseball!
June 29, 2019 at 10:33 am #96165This has been insightful. Thanks for the explanation. Go Cards!
