Wacha to come off the DL to start. Someone is going down to Memphis after Sunday’s game.
6:05 p.m. RHP Michael Wacha (1-0, 4.64) vs. LHP Patrick Corbin (2-0, 2.48) Fox Sports Midwest // KMOX
April 29, 2019 at 10:54 am #89146I thought there were already some posts on this thread. Oh well, guess I imagined it.
Anyway, a tough week ahead. Four games with Washington and then three at Wrigley. If we go 3-4 this week that would be okay with me. The Cubs have a quick two game set on Tues/Wed in Seattle and hopefully the Seattle pitching wont allow 29 runs those two games like they did their last two games against Texas.

stlcard25ParticipantGoing under .500 is never OK with me, no matter who the opponents are. Come October, if the Cards are still playing, they’ll need to win games against teams like these. I’ll say 5-2 or better would make me happy and 4-3 would be acceptable, so long as 2 of the wins are in Chicago.
April 29, 2019 at 11:13 am #89151Will be interesting to see the OF lineup. I would bet on it being the same. Shildt seems to have that “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” tendency.
April 29, 2019 at 11:20 am #89155With Wacha being activated today, Ryan Helsley draws the short straw to return to Memphis.
April 29, 2019 at 11:54 am #89163April 29, 2019 at 11:58 am #89164This is a bit surprising. I figured we would send a position player down to go back to 13 pitchers since we don’t have another off day for two weeks.
April 29, 2019 at 12:24 pm #89166
stlcard25ParticipantI like Helsley and he’ll surely be back eventually. His fly ball tendencies may make him iffy in a high leverage spot, but he could fill Leone’s role in middle innings admirably in a pinch.
April 29, 2019 at 12:25 pm #89167If they can split in Washington considering they are facing Corbin, Stras and Max, I would consider that a win. Taking a minimum 2 of 3 in Chicago is a must since I’ll be at the Friday and Saturday games sporting my new Goldy jersey! It wasn’t ordered until roughly 90 seconds after the extension was announced….

April 29, 2019 at 4:16 pm #89182Gyorko at 2ndbase? He did hit a ball hard yesterday, finally.
And at least we know Wong will be in there in the late innings as a defensive replacement. Unless the game is out of hand, one way or another.

April 29, 2019 at 6:47 pm #89193Pathetic 2nd inning by Wacha.
April 29, 2019 at 6:47 pm #89194You can’t walk the pitcher with the bases loaded Wacha!!!
This inning has a potential to be a disaster.
April 29, 2019 at 6:48 pm #891953-0 Nats
Couple of good pieces of hitting by Washington this inning. Wacha hasn’t helped his cause with the walks.
April 29, 2019 at 6:51 pm #89196You might as well plan on getting the pen up early if this keeps up.
April 29, 2019 at 7:01 pm #89197I am.thinking that if Gant had not been forced to pitch yesterday we might have seen a pinch hitter for Wacha
April 29, 2019 at 7:13 pm #89198What a chump AB by Molina. Corbin knew exactly where he’d pitch Molina to get that 1st pitch hack for the DP.
April 29, 2019 at 7:41 pm #89199Nice response by the Cards in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead.
Edit: make it 6-3 as Martinez and Molina each drive in another run. Corbin looks like bird seed to the Cardinal batters this inning.
April 29, 2019 at 7:44 pm #89200Damn Corbin fell the eff off this inning! lol
April 29, 2019 at 7:51 pm #89202Ozuna 28 RBI in Cardinals 1st 28 games is the most since Pujols 31 in 2009

April 29, 2019 at 7:58 pm #89203Gallegos here after the end of the inning?
April 29, 2019 at 8:17 pm #89205
stlcard25ParticipantMan, Goldy has never really felt like he has heated up this year save for that one series and he’s got a .918 OPS. Hopefully he and Carp can catch fire to carry the offense when Ozuna and Dejong inevitably slow down.
April 29, 2019 at 8:26 pm #89208
stlcard25ParticipantGreat catch by Bader to rob Gomes!
April 29, 2019 at 8:29 pm #89209Nice work by Gallegos. He seemed to have little trouble get outs.
April 29, 2019 at 8:30 pm #89210
stlcard25ParticipantIf the Cards go on to win this, Gallegos will be the unsung hero with two scoreless innings to bridge to the high leverage guys. Good work for him.
