This concerns me since Ponce de Leon has walked eight in the last 9 innings, leading to ten runs. Control seems to have become an issue. Recent.

stlcard25ParticipantOuch. A bad play all around by Dejong and Carpenter and it puts Ponce in trouble. Reds get the sac fly for a 2-0 lead.
September 1, 2019 at 6:52 pm #104714I’m not sure what DeJong did other than toss the ball right to Carp. Carp evidently misjudged where 3B is. Get to the bag and you can’t go wrong.
September 1, 2019 at 6:57 pm #104715
stlcard25ParticipantKnizner ties it with a dinger to left!
September 1, 2019 at 7:00 pm #104716Kiz ties it. Cards sure are getting some nice offensive production from 2 lately.
September 1, 2019 at 7:00 pm #104717
stlcard25ParticipantWong with the triple plates Dexter! 3-2 Cards!
September 1, 2019 at 7:01 pm #104718Now Wong triples in Fowler for the lead, 3-2.
September 1, 2019 at 7:14 pm #104719Back in the game but Wong gets left at third. Ponce had got to stop bleeding hits. We will never keep up at this pace. Been watching on game day Castillo only has 2 speeds 84 or 94. He uses the change up 84 for his money pitch

I’m with Wolf. Carp’s a FAIL at everything baseball.
September 1, 2019 at 7:30 pm #104721
stlcard25ParticipantSenzel ties it at 3.
September 1, 2019 at 7:34 pm #104722
stlcard25ParticipantPonce is getting hit hard now. Might need to dip into the bullpen early.
September 1, 2019 at 7:40 pm #104723
stlcard25ParticipantLeone in and he walks Vanmeter. Reds are threatening to blow this one open. Bases loaded, none out.
September 1, 2019 at 7:44 pm #104724
stlcard25ParticipantA big K of Galvis for the first out. A super slow roller plates the Reds a run.
September 1, 2019 at 7:47 pm #104725Got out of that with just one more run. Could have been worse
September 1, 2019 at 7:50 pm #104726PDL does exactly what you’d expect a middle/long reliever to do as he really struggled in the 5th. He couldn’t get an out in giving up the tying run and leaving two more runners on base. Leone came in relief, but walked his first batter to load the bases with no outs. From there he did pretty well to allow just one more run to give the Reds a 4-3 lead. No sweat, plenty of time for these Cards to come back.
September 1, 2019 at 7:53 pm #104727
stlcard25ParticipantCastillo throws one away and Wong is on third with one out. Dejong needs to get this run in. He strikes out. Dangit.
September 1, 2019 at 7:57 pm #104728
stlcard25ParticipantCastillo hangs one to O’Neill and gets away with it. Then Ks him on the change. That may be it for him for the game though.
September 1, 2019 at 8:00 pm #104729That was bad to decline the gift the Reds wanted to give the Cards. DeJong is lost tonight at the plate.
Mayers in, making this a critical portion of the game.
September 1, 2019 at 8:02 pm #104730No sooner than I posted about Mayers, he does what I feared. I wish they’d really move away from him. How many times do you have to see this to accept it isn’t going to work out for him in StL?
September 1, 2019 at 8:06 pm #104731
stlcard25ParticipantMayers gives up a HR to the first batter. That’s a two run swing there in the last two half innings. Hopefully that’s it for him tonight.
September 1, 2019 at 8:16 pm #104732Mike Mayers is proof that there is such a thing as AAAA caliber players.
September 1, 2019 at 8:22 pm #104733This is a strange lineup for us and a strange game too. Waiting for something bizzare to happen.
September 1, 2019 at 8:24 pm #104734Need to let Bader in the top of the order next time they’re lookin for 3 or 4 hitters
September 1, 2019 at 8:28 pm #104735Coming into today DeJong is 6 of his last 55. averaging a K per game.
Edit: wrong 10 of 50.
September 1, 2019 at 8:42 pm #104737Wong gets a hit to lead off the 8th. He’s been tough lately. DeJong up now with no outs, but strikes out for the 4th time. Terrible night, especially when you thrown in his decision not to throw home on the fielder’s choice that gave the Reds the lead.
O’Neill now up as the tying run.
