Hes throwing center of plate!
August 28, 2019 at 4:02 pm #104200Cards lose. 15 Ks just won’t get the job done.
August 28, 2019 at 4:03 pm #104201Goldschmidt, Edman, Ozuna, and DeJong were helpless in the last two games against the Brewers. Add a helpless Fowler, and you have 12 Ks today—-5 “hitters”
August 28, 2019 at 4:12 pm #104202Since Bader has returned from Memphis, he has been tearing it up. Before today, he was .360/.500/.640/1.140 with 4 Ks and 7 BBs in 32 PAs. It’s good to see him return to the form that he is capable of hitting.
I am hoping he can get his average up to around .240 or a little more by the end of the year. He will be a valuable piece going forward if he can keep this kind of focus.
August 28, 2019 at 4:19 pm #104203Ditto on Bader, not our best performance today. 1 run on 7 hits – pitchings not bad they only got 6. Didn’t get the rbi and yes the top of our order seemed to be MIA today. Well Cincys next and 2 out if 3 ain’t bad. Cincys been playing better since we last played them so we gotta stay focused. Don’t listen to the media hype now that we’re “most improved”
August 28, 2019 at 4:21 pm #104204The Cards bats looked awful today, but if you would have told me Monday morning that they would take 2 of 3 in this series, I would have taken that all day long. Let’s hope the Mets and Thor tonight and deGrom tomorrow can take care of the Cubbies the next two days which would put the Cubs 3.5 back going into the weekend.
I said this about a month ago, but going into Chicago for 4 games the 18-21st of Sept, the Cards need to have a bare minimum 2 game lead and get at least 1 at Wrigley. That final series of the year could turn into an instant classic for fans in the midwest.
August 28, 2019 at 4:40 pm #104205Who the hell needs to have the aircon on when you have the entire Cardinals lineup flailing at anything that was thrown today. I could feel the breeze with all the swing and misses all the way down here. 15 Ks is an embarrassment. They made Jordan Lyles look like Cy Young.
August 28, 2019 at 7:12 pm #104233Going to be back to a 2 game lead. Cubs six in the 1st off of Syndergaard. Now its 8-1 Cubs in the 2nd.

Participantgot to see the game after work. our bats were a little week today outside of wong and Molina. but lyles pitched pretty good. its a whole lot harder when pitchers aren’t walking a lot of batters. Flaherty wasn’t as great as usual but he wasn’t bad. it was just a good game by both sides and the brewers wanted it a bit more. probably needed it more. we struck out a little too much but as long as its an aberration not the normal we will be fine. 2 of 3 from Milwaukee at their park isn’t bad.

stlcard25ParticipantThor was terrible tonight so the Cubs will gain on us. Hopefully Degrom rights the ship tomorrow.
August 28, 2019 at 8:42 pm #104238Mets are making a game of it. Its now 10-6 with three innings to go.
They couldn’t, could they???
August 28, 2019 at 10:59 pm #104258Carter, why aren’t you up in Milwaukee cheering with Pugs and his better half??
Probably because Carter was spending hours on end trying to get a handle on our quote feature, CardsFanInChiTown. He’ll get it yet….may take a few months, but God be my judge, he’ll get it. Funny you brought up my “better half”, CardsFanInChiTown. She is a wonderful woman! She’s as smart as a whip, funny as they come and as pretty as a peach……but in this relationship, she takes second place and thus is referred to as my “lesser half”…..her words not mine. Speaking of my lovely wifey, guess who is taking off to Minneapolis this weekend with her mother and 3 sisters to celebrate her 41st birthday? Yes indeedy….happy days are here again! I love her like crazy, but is there anything better than having the little lady out of house and out of mind for a few days? I’ll be a game threading maniac this weekend with her out of the way. I know what you’re thinking…..”hey Pugs, how could you miss being with your darling wife on her birthday”??? Well, actually her birthday was on Monday and she’s been getting royally spoiled all week long….other than my Wild Turkey binges on Monday night and earlier today.
* Carter and your’s truly go way back…..wayyyy back to the horse and buggy days here at The Cardinal Nation. Welcome back Kotter!

August 29, 2019 at 11:01 am #104291Pugs, I agree with you 1000%. No matter how much we love our wives there is nothing better than having the house to yourself on the weekend to splurge on good eats, good drinks, and Cardinal baseball with no distractions!!
August 29, 2019 at 1:38 pm #104297Agree with you guys. I love my wife like noboady’s business, and are are great together. But she is not big on sports nor rock ‘n roll, so I enjoy those times when she is gone for a few days and I can crank up the stereo with some old vinyl, and watch all the sports I want without thinking about what I really should be doing.
Now in all fairness I will say she feels the same way about things when I am gone. She loves the break with me out of the house as well. She’s going to have a full 8 days without me in mid-September as I am going to San Diego on a work assignment.
August 29, 2019 at 7:40 pm #104312I guess I am fortunate in that my wife and I always watch the Cards games together and comment on what is going on including being driven nuts by the announcers. She knows batting averages, IL list, and who is coming up from the minors. Being in a suburb of Springfield helps as a lot of the future big league Cards go through here. When I was in the military we spent a lot of time apart but for several years even when we lived on a stateside base I would be gone for 24 hr duty which wound being 30 or more hours with travel. I admit it – she raised the kids with very little input from me. I was an old timer who never learned what a diaper change consisted of so she did it for 4 kids and they all turned out well and are in their late 40s or 50s now. None have been to jail (that we know of) and all have stayed employed. But I most enjoy my gal when we are together and watching a Cards game or traveling in the motorhome. For nearly 58 years we have managed to tolerate each other so what’s a few more.
August 29, 2019 at 8:04 pm #104314Yep, the perfect living arrangement would be 4 days on and 3 days off every week. Like Scotty said, “good eats, good drinks such as Wild Turkey, and Cardinals baseball with no distractions”. And if I may, I’ll sprinkle in a couple more…..leaving a mess in your wake without being pestered and heading on down to a nice movie theatre to catch a twin bill ( double feature), where you may sleep through most of the action. Well, starting at 6:30am tomorrow morning, that is exactly what I have coming my way until Monday morning when she returns. And boy that 30 minutes prior to their arrival back home is no picnic…..scrambling around like a madman to erase your bachelor ways.
Hey BicycleMike, when you’re in SD, you and Booyah should get together for a cold one.

August 29, 2019 at 10:02 pm #104317Pugs, I see we’re on the same path this weekend. My wife is leaving Friday morning with some friends to go to an antique show in Baltimore for the weekend. It’s definitely not a way I’d spend a weekend of my own free will. Instead, I’ll be enjoying the weekend with another female, Miss Bonnie, my loyal four-legged partner of nearly 12 years. We’ll take in most of the four weekend games as we darn well please –eating and drinking whatever we want, whenever we want. Admittedly, Bonnie might get a little fussy if I don’t get her evening raw meat on the tray by 6:30, but otherwise she hangs in there like a champ and die-hard Cards fan for every inning. Life is good.
August 29, 2019 at 10:28 pm #104319Sweet sweet plan, Euro! I see a nice big porterhouse in Bonnie’s realm come Saturday night. When the wifey first presents her getaway possibilities, I initially always try to talk her out of it…..and she eats it up every time.
Luckily for me, she never heeds my suggestion of staying home. Her mother always goes with her…..which brings great comfort to me. About an hour before post time(when she departs on her trip), I always tell her with a very serious face, “I just know that when it comes time for you to walk out that door, you won’t be able to leave me here high and dry”. I don’t know what I would do if she ever decided to cancel her trip?????….don’t even want to think about that. Tell you what, as stated previously, I love the dickens out of her, but when she closes that door to hit the road for a few days, it has the same euphoria as when your bat connects with that ball and you know it’s going to be traveling vast distances.August 29, 2019 at 11:22 pm #104321Pugs, you’re a PSYOP mastermind. You receive a huge benefit while making it appear to be a selfless concession. And that probably leads to yet another perk for you when the wife returns because she’s so grateful. It’s like investing in a stock with multibagger cap gains that also yields enormous dividends. It’s a lot of winning, kind of like the Cards had been doing up until Wednesday.
