By now I hope Kolten is back in action so Edman can move over to 3B. Posting this in the blind after Carp has his sombrero game on Monday. Don’t expect much from him the rest of the way but any little thing will be appreciated.

Nice to have your best pitcher going with the series win already in hand. Today is a chance to go for the jugular against the flagging Brew Crew. Hopefully Jack is up to the challenge.

Some Cards have very good career stats against Lyles. Dejong is 3-7 with a HR. Goldy is 9-18 with 2 HR. Muñoz is 3-4. Yadi is 5-12. Ozuna is 6-14 with a HR. On the other side, Carp is 1-13, Wong 2-11 and Fowler 2-10.

I’d probably go with a lineup of:

    Fowler RF
    Edman 3B
    Goldy 1B
    Ozuna LF
    Dejong SS
    Yadi C
    Wong 2B
    Bader CF

I might switch Wong and Edman but I doubt Shildt will mess much with a lineup that’s worked. Fwiw, Carp has looked better at the plate other than his bad game vs Gio. I think we can expect an above average finish to his season, although Edman should still start against every LHP and at least split vs RHP unless things really change.

Flaherty needs to go 7 innings. The bullpen has been taxed quite a bit the last two days. I am not sure who all is available. Brebbia and Webb should be. Thankfully CMart probably isn’t. He makes me nervous in high leverage situations.

Gscottar, I’d guess that Webb, Brebbia, Leone and Helsley will be available. Gallegos could be. Gant, Cmart and Miller would be iffy.

The Brewers are in poorer shape yet it seems. If Lyles gets knocked out early, we might see a position player pitching. Hope to see it happen.

There’s no point in typing this message because I will not be allowed to post it as I will get the error message again.

Anyway, I’ll be at the Amish restaurant having lunch about the time of the 1st pitch. Might get back in time for the middle innings.

A day off tomorrow before the four in three at home with the Redlegs. Black jack should be ready to get us the sweep as the Brewers know that they are fading anyway.

The Cubs’ game in NY should be at least wet… (very cloudy now). The Mets can’t afford to lose anymore ground in their play-off hunt. The fact remains that the over-hyped Cubs ain’t that good. Things get more interesting with the Cards and Mets winning today.

You know what gets me? The pundits predicted the Cubs would end up in 4th and even 5th in the division way back in March. Lord knows they ain’t winning it.
Now they are saying we will win it easily, like a walk in the park.

A word on Carpenter: how bad does he have to get before he’s DFA’d? Why not just GIVE him to the Dodgers?

A word on Shildt: his name should be Captain Hook! I love it.

A word on Wong: he has arrived.

A word on Yadi: he still swings a mean bat when he’s not banged up.

I’m getting ready to sit down to a dinner of fish and brown rice with carrots and onions simmered in butter, and probably will take a bowl of Hagen Daz vanilla with a dribble of chocolate with me to watch the first pitch. All in all a healthy meal (if you don’t count the butter part and the choco dribble).
Rah Cardinals. Let’s show these beer men the broom.

Fab meal, CIF, and don’t worry about the butter. Still the best form of heated oil around (if you’re going to heat an oil) And if the choco dribble is dark chocolate you have one nutritious meal.

Can someone school me on how to quote a post?

Sure. You simply highlight and copy the text that you want to quote, go to the blank text box, hit “B-QUOTE”, then paste your text. Finally, hit the “CLOSE TAGS” box.

The shift costs the Cards there…couldn’t get any of the runners and the Brewers are in business.

    1-0 Brewers on the grounder.

Wong with an error… that should have ended the inning.

On the Cubs: we know they’re bad on the road this year, but they’re at their worst at night (around 14-32) Next 2 games are @ the Mets vs. DeGrom and Sydegard at night.

Jack minimizes the damage and gets out of the inning with only the one run allowed.

Lyles has been dominant so far. 5 Ks in 7 batters and only one single.

The Brewers have been so good against Flaherty that it makes you wonder if they have him tipped somehow? Jack is going to have to work to get out of this inning unscathed.

There have been rumors (not just from the Cardinals) that the Brewers have some kind of organized sign stealing going on. Then again, since the Cards know/suspect it, they can react accordingly. So, no excuse today.

Goldy looking bad today. A run back would have been nice.
