StL 2019 Game 111 thread: Sun 8/4 at A’s

This club struggles to get a hit with runners in scoring position. It is maddening!

It’s BABIP time as two straight As barely sneak singles through the Cards infield. Gotta take advantage when you can and the Cards just can’t seem to this weekend.

I was rather disappointed in that third inning.

I’ll tell ya, this Chapman kid may be slumping at the plate but his defense is so legit that I’d love the Cards to go after him should the As decide to move him Donaldson-style in the next couple of years. Of course, that’s dependent on what our own third base trio looks like coming on. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a human vacuum with a cannon arm at third like we enjoyed with Scott Rolen for so many years?

Ah, the real Carp is back.

That’s several times in this game that Cards hitters have had a chance to do damage and allowed center cut pitches to go by, only to later strike out on a pitch out of the zone.

Geez, Waino with back to back hit by pitches. This second one is on an 0-2 pitch.

Just like that, the As take the lead.

Drives ya crazy don’t it? Watch strikes go by then swing at balls!

Roark to Goldy…fat slider middle middle…no swing. Slider down and away..swing. After a ball, swing at a fastball 3″ above the zone. Ends up grounding out on a fastball low and inside.

Darn, After that opening three-strike K Waino’s been behind in the count practically all day.

The As are threatening to break this one open in the 5th. Notice how Davis isn’t just taking that first pitch?

Waino sneaks out of it. It hasn’t been a great start for him but as bad as he’s been on the road, it’s probably one of his better ones away from Busch.

The offense is not showing any signs of life. This game may end up 2-1, unless we employ the B bullpen again.

It seems to me that the Cards are once again “saving” the bullpen for a circumstance that won’t happen, thanks to a poor pitcher ahead. Waino on the road stinks and if you get through 5 with a chance, it’s very short sighted to not pull him then. In this case, they now have a 2 run deficit thanks to poor managing.

4 freaking hits. Mo adds no bat and get used to it as it will be seen the rest of the year. Sickening.

But HoustonLarry, the Cards have added Ozuna and Carp back from the IL. That’s like making a trade…TWO Trades!

Really don’t need much to win this game. Just a few hits. The big bats are 0fer today. Guess we will see if they go out with a whimper next inning
