cubs took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th, but Kimbrel blows the save against his first batter, Yelich, in the bottom of the inning. Yelich hit a HR. Kimbrel then walked PH Saladino, and Hiura walked it off with a 2-run shot. cubs lose 5-3.
Don’t think Carp will be back too soon. He is now 0-6 at AA and added to his 0-6 at AAA he is ofer the minors. Maybe Peoria next?
Glad our game is over, 2 runs on 7 hits. That grand slam really hurt. If you can’t beat em, cleat em! Really does look like we need a real starter to continue competitive. This piece together rotation will never last. Well tomorrows another game. You can’t win them all. Still like our team, we’ll get em tomorrow. Go Cardinals!
Can’t let a pitcher like Cole get a lead. Much less a big one. Ump hurt Ponce with borderline calls particularly low ones.

The only thing hurting Poncedeleon is his limited repertoire and the inability to throw strikes consistently. Which seems like a theme with our young hurlers at times. Maybe we should consider removing our pitching coordinators?

That is her modus operandi and has been since she started. She can’t describe a whole game so she just concentrates on one part of it. Notice she must not have even traveled to Pittsburgh because another writer wrote those game summaries. Wonder if she has the same problem as Jen – can’t leave a kid at home to travel. Anyway it seems good MLB writers are gettng to be fewer and fewer.
Ponce and Hudson seem to be the same style pitchers – start out wild; depend on good defense and double plays to bail them out and then manage to hang in there for 6 innings. Only that 6 inning thing is not proving to be the case with Ponce. If we don’t get an arm in the trades it looks like Wacha may be back as a starter. I wouldn’t judge anything by the games against Houston. They, along with the Yankees, look like this year’s murderers row.
Since four of the five runs against Ponce were due to walks, I don’t think the loss had anything to do with how good the Houston hitting was. Houston’s only really earned run was the home run, and that was under unusual circumstances. The first inning debacle was as bad as the walks.
We just played a lousy game. It happens after winning six straight.
