The Pirates radio announcers are discussing Munoz
They went on and on about it last night, talking about the unwritten rules. Bob Walk talked about a guy they had that stole 3B on the Dodgers back in his day in a much closer game where Lasorda went crazy. They beaned the guy later and had to cart him off the field. It was an ugly incident.
There’s no way the catcher could’ve thrown out Muñoz. The pitcher was sleeping and let him go pretty much uncontested both times.
I’m old school on many things and don’t like celebrations that taunt the opposition. But Muñoz’ steals were in the 4th inning, and this is more about playing good hard baseball rather than taunting. If you don’t like it, then wake your butt up and stop it. Pitchers don’t quit trying to strike batters out in a blowout. Defenders don’t quit trying to make great defensive plays. Batters don’t quit trying to get hits. If you promise not to do all that, then I’ll agree to not steal when you’re sleeping on the mound. I don’t get it, especially in the 4th inning and if your team is built around running. If it’s in the 9th inning and a blowout, then that’s different. Also consider Muñoz is not a lock to stay on the big club and is trying to establish himself.
July 25, 2019 at 12:44 pm #99242I have been out of town the last few days and haven’t been able to stay in touch much. It is good to be back. Let’s keep the train rolling and continue to put the heat on those Cubs. If we keep on winning Theo will want to jump in Lake Michigan.
As for Carp, heck no would I put him back in the lineup. Edman and Munoz have provided the spark that this teem needed. Let’s ride that horse as long as we can.

stlcard25ParticipantFowler with the 2 run bomb to make it 6-1 Cards. Musgrove has struggled against St Louis this year, to say the least.
July 25, 2019 at 12:54 pm #99247If I were the Cubs I would be getting very nervous right now.
July 25, 2019 at 12:54 pm #99248Man baseball is a lot of fun to watch when the offense is doing this and we’re winning games. Just heard the best OBP on this team is .345, which is frightening. But I am going to choose not to care about that right now.

stlcard25ParticipantThe Pirates have gotten two back in the bottom of the 6th. Strange positioning by the Cards to basically concede the 3rd run, it seems.
July 25, 2019 at 1:33 pm #99251Looks like Mikokas us tiring, they’re creeping up back into the game. May need to relieve him.Hes done a good job so far. Looks like thier scoring is in the first 5 batters
July 25, 2019 at 1:40 pm #99252McLaughlin just said Carp is going to Springfield tonight for team activities and will play in the game Friday.
July 25, 2019 at 1:47 pm #99253Very good 8-pitch inning from Gant in the 7th. Nice to see that again.
July 25, 2019 at 1:49 pm #99254Looks like the rest did him good.He smoked ’em. Close it down Cards!
July 25, 2019 at 2:01 pm #99257
stlcard25ParticipantMiller in and gets a fly out and a K. Apparently, Marte was upset because he got quick pitched.
Now Bell singles to left. Kang in for the Pirates. He lines out to Wong and it’s 6-3 going to the 9th.
July 25, 2019 at 2:13 pm #99259
stlcard25ParticipantMiller to start the 9th, with Carlos on deck.
July 25, 2019 at 2:14 pm #99260
stlcard25ParticipantOne pitch, one out. Here comes Carlos.
July 25, 2019 at 2:18 pm #99261
stlcard25ParticipantInfield single with one out. Let’s get a double play and get it over with.
July 25, 2019 at 2:18 pm #99262Nervous time. Carlos gives up a single, albeit a soft one. Double play would be nice.
July 25, 2019 at 2:21 pm #99263
stlcard25ParticipantNow he plunks Stallings. He’s got the slow ball going today.
July 25, 2019 at 2:21 pm #99264Here’s carlos again.
July 25, 2019 at 2:21 pm #99265I would’ve liked to see Miller close this thing out
July 25, 2019 at 2:21 pm #99266And now he hits the next batter on a 1-2 pitch. Tying run at the plate. I’d have Gallegos up and ready.
July 25, 2019 at 2:22 pm #99267CMart just can’t make things easy. He is killing me.
July 25, 2019 at 2:22 pm #99268
stlcard25ParticipantIt just takes one pitch…the double play cleans this up and the Cards get the sweep! 6-3 and tied for first!
July 25, 2019 at 2:23 pm #99269DP! Carlos draws the grounder he needed. Nice to see him not dig a bigger hole after the HBP.
July 25, 2019 at 2:23 pm #99270Thank goodness!
Don’t look in the mirror Cubs. You won’t like what you see.
Let’s do something big before the deadline and win this thing.
July 25, 2019 at 2:33 pm #99271Good win! Good pitching, good defense and good offense. Steady hitting with hits spread out all through the order. Could have done without the 9th inning drama. Carlos just has to trust in his ability and lose that nervousness. Maybe we do need a psycho closer? Go Cardinals!
July 25, 2019 at 2:34 pm #99272This run has been great and we’ve done it without Carp and Ozuna. These next 4 series are big in telling whether this run for real or the competition we’ve played because on the Horizon is Astros, Cubs, A’s, and Dodgers.
