6:05 p.m. RHP Adam Wainwright (6-7, 4.50) vs. RHP Jordan Lyles (5-6, 4.91) FOX Sports Midwest // KMOX
It’s another beautiful day here in PA…supposed to be 75 and sunshine all day with a nice cool down for sleeping tonight. Since I get blacked out of the games I’ll head out on a hike after work and listen while I walk.
Lyles is not good. He has been pretty bad both home and away this year. His lefty splits are a nightmare…they are OPSing almost 1.000 against him. So although Waino has usually had Knizner as his backstop I’d probably rather see Wieters in there along with Edman and Wong. This is where a healthy and effective Marp would also be a bonus.
That said, Waino has been horrible on the road this year. We need a better start from him. I could see this being a 7-6, 9-7 type of game and it’s a tossup to me as to who wins. Hopefully it’s the Cards.
This game could very well have 1st place on the line. Giants are hot, Cubs are slumping. They play early in San Francisco today so we should know the outcome by the 1st pitch of our game. Maybe if the Cubs lose again it will fire the squad up?

Good game last night. If we get good pitching with steady defense and offense like last night we should win this. Go Cardinals!
Cubs up on the Giants 3-0 but its still early days. The B-Boys, Baez and Bryant, at it again.
And oddly enough, the Cubs sent Addison Russell down to the minors. He’s off to Iowa.

Cubs down the Giants 4-1. We will either be 1/2 game or 1 1/2 games out after tonight.
Time to head to the TV and light up a cigar for the early innings.
Does it look like if the opposition scores in the first, we win. If we score in the first, we are susceptible. One error, two doubles, and two HRs kind of give Wainwright some room.
Goldschmidt scores twice in the second after reaching on an error to start the inning. 8-2 Cards, two out. They did catch a break when Fowler was thrown out at home for the second out, RF to C. Escobar relieves Lyles, only to be met with back-to-back doubles by DeJong and Wong, 9-2. Munoz strikes out to end the inning.
Wow, I just turned it on (radio)…7 extra base hits and 9 runs so far. I like it! Now hopefully Waino can eat some innings and we keep scoring.
Hopefully wainwright can put it in the strike zone with the bigger lead. And hopefully that leads to outs and some innings

Obviously love wainwright but I am really over it. Tough to watch the games he pitches and every road game we need 6 innings from the pen
Jeez Waino, they just halved our lead. Single, double, double from the heart of thier order. Theres your assignment for the night. Get them out however.
86 pitches from Waino through 3. We’ll be lucky to get another inning from him. I think Shildt needs to shuffle the rotation to try to get him as many starts at Busch as possible.

Wong are 8 for 9 with the only non-hit being the error that started the second inning. Three HR and three doubles between them.
